Synopsis: Love doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be true.
Isabella—Grady Williams is a national treasure, the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient, America’s scarred superhero. With tattooed arms sculpted from carrying M-16s, this bad boy has girls begging from sea to shining sea to get a piece of his action.

When my father squanders away my college fund, I make a deal with this dirty-talking Devil Dog—I will pretend to be Grady’s girlfriend for the Marine Corps Ball, and my dad will write Grady’s war memoir.

Grady is fearless. Hell, this badass jumped on a grenade to save his fellow Marines! As much as I crave him, I refuse to allow myself to become addicted to a dangerous man who will detonate my heart.

Grady—Isabella Cuesta is an angel who can see beyond my mangled skin, a pawn used to repay her father’s debt, a woman who makes me feel like a man instead of a monster.

But I no longer believe in fairy tales.

She’s mine until our contract ends. I’ll take her hard and rough, listen to all her hopes and fears, lay down my life to protect her.

This beauty will never let herself love a dangerous man like me—a man who has killed, a man who runs towards gunfire, a man who never backs down from a fight.

But without her love, I’m not a man—I’ll remain forever a beast.

EXCERPT - BEAST

—Isa

Guilt from my initial reaction to his injuries tormented me.

At first I was determined not to stare at his face, horrified that he’d be insulted by my reaction. But the second his face came into focus, I held back a sob, and a lump grew in my throat.

The right side of his face was mangled, taut raw flesh accented with blue and red scars. His jaw was uneven, and his right eyelid slumped, filled with what must’ve been a glass eye. The remnant of his ear was dappled and twisted. But the other half of his face was clean-shaven, handsome and rugged—a bright turquoise eye, strong chin, black hair shorn in a Marine Corps high and tight haircut.

Flashes filled my brain, stored images I must’ve retained from newsreels and graphic war movies. Had it been a roadside bomb? An outmanned firefight? Some type of chemical attack? I wouldn’t ask him. For now, I was content with the trust he had shown me by unveiling his scars.

“I guess I should’ve gone to the party as Two-Face,” he said, his voice somber.

“No, you’re beautiful. You make a sexy Hulk.” I caressed his face, my fingers tracing its divots. “Plus, then you’d be DC, and I’d be Marvel. We would’ve never had a chance.”

He let out a small laugh, but flinched at my touch. “You’ve seen me now. You’re free to go.”

This was my chance to end this night safely and in control.

Or I could get wild—do what I’d only ever read about in my books.

Cut loose.

I’d always admired those women who owned their sexuality, like Marisol. Indulged in pleasure without any guilt or shame. I wondered what it would be like to live in the moment.

I was picky, but I still had needs, and right now I needed some action—and sadly these days the warm glow from my eReader was about the closest that I felt to having any heat radiating on my body. But even the artificial afterglow of one hot night with my latest romance hero did little to warm my heart. After all, I hadn’t hooked up with a guy since winter break. I missed everything about being around men—their masculine scents, their non-subtle eye f####, their rough hands. At least my book boyfriends were gorgeous, witty, and incredible lovers—but most importantly, they wanted more from their heroines than just a one-night stand.

And I was sure this man wasn’t looking for anything more than a hookup.

Isa, put on your clothes and get the hell out of here. This is not you. You are responsible, conservative, and goal-oriented.

Faced with the opportunity to indulge in my fantasy of hot, wild sex with a hunky alpha male, I had to admit that the reality of the situation made me realize how rigid I’d always been.

But somewhere deep in my soul I wanted to lose myself in this damaged man, give him pleasure to alleviate his pain, experience ecstasy and release.

And maybe he could heal me too.

The heat between us rose, and I erased the distance between us, like two magnets being drawn together.

I traced his face with my fingers, running the tips over his lips. Rough, wild, and dangerous. As he remained still, my hands explored his incredible body—rock-hard muscles, deeply embedded scars, and intricate ink. All making him look like the sexiest badass alive.

He bit his bottom lip, his pupil dilated.

Hungry.

Ravenous.

Intense.

His chest heaved, and the sight of this raw, ferocious man before me sent a shock between my legs. I ached for him to relieve the tension that consumed my body.

I pressed my palm onto his chest, the green body paint staining my hand. “I want to stay. I want you.”

Damn, did I just say that? My words betrayed my will.

REVIEW:

This was my first read from author Rachel Robinson and boy was it a doozy. I wasn’t expecting so much angst and heartache, but it was done with such care and emotion that I was easily swept away with Robinsons words.

Cody Ridge is an ex-Navy SEAL, while on a mission he was captured and held prisoner for over 3 years. He was finally rescued after being declared dead, but the love of his life and the one person who kept him going through memory has now moved on. After a year they both have tried moving on, while Cody’s business is successful and Lainey is preparing for her big wedding day, but Lainey needs one last thing from Cody before she gets married.

This was a whole new ballpark for me, as I dislike love triangles with a passion, I was actually good with this one. Dax, who is engaged to Lainey was the SEAL who rescued Cody. I felt pretty bad for the guy at the beginning because the woman hes about to marry still loves the man he saved. But lets just say my mind was changed later on.

Cody is a alpha male that will have you falling hard for him. At the beginning I was a little iffy about him and his stalker talk about Lainey, but after hearing his side and seeing the emotional pull he has with her, it all made sense. The romance between Cody and Lainey is hot and heavy with top notch angst and will pull at all your heartstrings.

And when you think this book was going to be all about the romance, there is a twist that will add more tension to their lives. Cody wants revenge for what happened to him and I’ll just say this was a big shocker for me, but I wont spoil it.

Overall this book turned me inside out and I loved the push and pull between Cody and Lainey. Lainey was a tough character for me to connect to, as I wished some of her decisions panned out a bit different, she just needed to make up her mind. The romance was fantastic, so much passion and connection it was undeniable. I absolutely look forward to reading more from Robinson, this was a great introduction to her writing.

Excerpt

She’s been his for the stolen years. I called Dax. We spoke of Lainey and how he wants her to know she has options. He wants to win her fair and square. I didn’t have the heart to tell him fair and square loses every single time. The option that Lainey is exercising at the moment has my mouth watering and my dick rapt at attention. A stronger man--a man with more integrity would resist. I was stripped of everything, integrity included. I just want back what is rightfully mine.

“I want to kiss your entire body. You want that?” I ask, rubbing the insides of her thighs with the palms of my hands.  Her body excites me. It’s familiar and brand new at the same time. Everything washes away when I touch her. I can block my pain receptors with her pleasure. I can forget. “Every single square inch of you.” I say folding my hands around her tiny, tan waist.

She nods. Her doe eyes challenging me to merely kiss her. Smirking, I lean over her drag my lips across her tits, down her stomach and back up her neck to find her mouth. Lainey whimpers as I rest some of my body weight on top of her.  My mouth is watering by the time I bring my lips on top of hers. Her scent is all around me, her warm skin is against my chest, my cock is nestled right where it wants to be. How to tell her how much I’ve missed her? Or that her fucking gorgeous face is still the center of my universe?

As Shane struggles to unravel his past, dangerous new truths come to light. Can he protect the only woman he's ever loved? And can Josie trust a man she thought she knew—one who carries such a deadly secret?

REVIEW:

For the month of November I decided to join a challenge and have a fellow reviewer pick three titles for me to read, one having to have a man in uniform. So I didn’t know what to expect when I started Forgotten Sins, I really didn’t expect one of the most suspenseful and thrilling romance story to come popping out of nowhere. I watch Criminal Minds and so many aspects of this book were trying to figure out who and what the male lead was, good bad? Killer? I was so freaking exciting and frustrating because I didn’t know what was going to happen next!

Forgotten Sins follows Josie who has been called to the hospital because her husband was brought in. But the odd part is Josie hasn’t seen her husband in two years after he suddenly took off with no word or reason. Shane has no idea what happened to him or even who he is. But when Josie comes in a he finds out she’s his wife, he knows he has to stick with her and will do anything to remember why he left her. But as Shane and Josie start to unravel what happened to Shane, they realize he may have been involved in something dangerous. Shane has unusual instincts, intense fighting skills, a way to get people to talk and is just down right scary. This leads to Shane protecting his wife and unraveling a very large puzzle.

Josie is put in a very awkward but somewhat hilarious position. Especially since Shane is hard to resist and is determined to have his wife back in every way. She has to deal with the love of her life who left her two years ago, having no memory of their time together or what he left her. In Josie situation I have no idea what I’d do, but it was obvious whatever happened to him caused a few men to get seriously beat up and Shane no nearly has injured as them. I think Josie could have handled Shane a little better by trying to help him, he obviously didn’t understand what was happening and she kept pushing him away. I would of helped him and tried to get some answers after he got his memory back. Luckily Shane is a stubborn man and still feels a deep connection to Josie even though his memory is jumbled. She in the end can’t resist his intense charm and dangerously protective nature.

Shane is a mystery; half the time I had no idea what was going on with him. But in the beginning the readers know that he and his brothers were apart of some seriously crazy military training. Shane is pure danger and will do anything to find out what happened to him as well as protect Josie, the one key to his past. He also has to deal with the bad guys who cause his memory loss. His brothers come to help after hunting him down and finding out he has no memory. And Shane with no memory is more dangerous than the one who had his memory. I was worried about what would happen once he remembered everything, would he leave Josie again or would he fight whoever was trying to harm him.

Overall the plot twist and fast paced story line kept me on my toes and threw me so many loops. I enjoyed every bantering moments, fight scene, smoking hot kiss and hilarious brotherly humor. The big villain is slightly revealed as Shane’s brothers come to save the day. But I cant wait to learn more about the big bad and what the heck these brothers went through. The ending was perfect and opened another door into how Shane and his family are going to survive. I cant wait to read about Shane’s brother Nathan and Matt next!

{Blog Tour: Review + Guest Post} of A Beautiful Distraction by Kelsie Leverich

A Beautiful Distraction by Kelsie Leverich
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

GENRE: Contemporary
THEME: Romance, New Adult, Military
RECEIVED: Bought

BLURB:
A brand new novel in the New York Times bestselling Hard Feelings series—where nothing’s more dangerous than a bad boy with a broken heart…

First Sergeant Rafe Murano did everything to the extreme. He trained harder, he fought harder, and, unfortunately, he loved harder. And falling for the wrong woman nearly destroyed him.

Home from a deployment, and without his missions to consume him, Murano is ravaged by memories of his heartbreak. So he drinks until he’s numb and drowns himself in meaningless one-night stands. But they only take the edge off…

Until he meets Fallon.

Haunted by her past, Fallon Kelly knows all too well about the desperate desire for an escape. So when she sees the tatted-up bad boy who’s one punch away from a ride in the back of a squad car, she offers a distraction—one that quickly becomes an addiction.

Little does she know, this bad boy can love so hard, it can break her…

REVIEW:

I’m usually not one to read military romance novels, but I am a military wife and after reading some great reviews, I couldn’t resist. I’m happy to say I’m glad I tried this series out, A Beautiful Distraction is the third in the Hard Feelings series and can be read as a stand-alone. Now that I’ve read this one I’m definitely going to be reading the previous two.

A Beautiful Distraction follows Fallon Kelly, whose life at a young age changed and her parents decided to cut ties. A former ballet dancer, she now dances and owns her own club that was left to her, a burlesque club with class and high profile guest that visit. After what her parents did she only lives and breaths her career and not looking for a relationship. That is until Rafe Murano a first Sergeant home from deployment steps into her life. They both have past and current problem that they need distractions from and together they help each other and learn that maybe there is a chance to move forward.

Fallon is a tough as nails women whose had a lot of lows in her life. But now that she has her own club and employees to take care of she feel content, and wasn’t expecting to meet someone. I really liked Fallon’s personality; she is protective and caring when it comes to the girls who work for her. Her love for dancing and excitement of being on the stage is what she enjoys most. I liked how she’s always straight forward how she felt, any person that got in her face; she always put them in their place. Fallon also knew how to handle Rafe, he is emotional like her, but also she understood what he was going through. It made me like them even more together, because they just fit, they got each other.

Rafe is a man who has been through many deployments and seen a lot of loss, but he’s also had to deal with having his heart broken. The women he was with wasn’t good for him, she being married and breaking his heart made him turn to drinking and set off his temper. But then he meets Fallon, who sets a fire to his heart and distracts him from all the pain and heartache. I loved this guy, he was protective of innocent people, even if he didn’t know them, he loved his family and cared for Fallon the moment he met her. It’s an emotional roller coaster with him, but Fallon seems to be the only one to heal his wounds.

Overall this book happily surprised me, the story is about healing, finding love, and coming to terms with the past and letting it go. Both characters are very damaged and don’t expect to find happiness, nor think they deserve it. There are secondary characters such as Jade Fallons co-workers and Graham Rafe’s friend, who I liked and am hoping we get a book on. The story was paced well and was a journey from both Rafe and Fallon’s side of the story. I’m looking forward to continuing this series and reading more from Leverich.

RECOMMENDATION:

This is a new adult romance story with some mature content. Fans of the Sea Breeze series by Abbi Glines and Wait for You by J. Lynn will love, Perfect Opposites by Zoya Tessi.

GUEST POST

We, as women, are judge-y creatures by nature, especially when judging ourselves, and each other. Although we may try to rein in our superficial tendencies and our catty abilities, sometimes they manage to find a way to seep through the cracks. That’s okay, I’ll let it slide.

But let’s talk about the way we judge the female characters in books. I’d say (in my opinion) the female characters are judged more harshly than the males. Would you agree?

Picking out flaws seems to be bred in us, like a sixth sense, or a latent ability that only surfaces while we are breathing. And I’m not just talking about physical attributes being picked out, because more often than not, it’s the personality characteristics that get the brunt of our judgment. Too whiney, too bitchy, too naive, too blah, blah, blah…

But flaws are what makes a character unique, even the annoying quirks. Let’s pick apart the main ladies in my novels as examples, shall we?

Let start with Ronnie Clark, the heroine in my novel, THE VALENTINE’S ARRANGEMENT. Ronnie is a razor-tongue, tell-it-like-she-sees-it bombshell. As a tattoo artist, she is covered in beautiful ink from a sleeve on her arm, to a full back piece, to artwork on her thighs. Her nearly black hair is long and full, and she is never without high heels and red lipstick. Good so far? Are we judging yet?
But…Ronnie doesn’t get along with women much. Whoa, hold on, let me finish before the claws come out, she’s got more flaws, I promise!

You may not love that Ronnie can’t stand the female gender, but that’s just her. She chills with big hairy men and can hold her own doing so. She’s crass and rude and her favorite word starts with an “F” and rhymes with truck. She’s a hard-ass, and a lot of the decisions (both good and bad) are because of this.

Don’t like this about Ronnie? That’s totally okay, in fact, I expect it. It’s what is brilliant about writing, what’s so much fun about creating characters—they become real people in our minds. And everyone can’t like everyone, right? Where would the fun be in that?

But while reading, I challenge readers to pull away from the habit we as women tend to have to snub the female characters who make decision we don’t agree with. Because we are not them, they are their own uniquely created character, with their own traits and flaws that drive the choices they make, which in turn, drives the story.

Okay, let’s move on to Meagan Mitchell, the heroine in my novel, FEEL THE RUSH. Meagan represents the girl next door, friends with everyone, and can hang with the guys and curl up with the girls. She’s a strong woman, fun and easy-going. Not bad so far?

Well…she is about to turn thirty and her desire to settle down starts rearing its ugly head. I know, I know, thirty is young, you say. She has all the time in the world to settle down, you say. But what is important to some may not be important to others. And while some women might not understand a woman’s yearning to have a family, and they might even find this annoying, to others, it just might be their ultimate dream.

Just like Ronnie, Meagan makes decision throughout the novel based on her desire to settle down. They are not choices I would make myself, but nonetheless, they are not mine to make (even though I created them!), they are Meagan’s.

So the next time you are reading and the heroine rubs you the wrong way or does something that generates an exaggerated eye-roll, retract the claws and take the bad with the good. Try to appreciate the character that was created, flaws, bad decisions, emotions, and all. It’s okay to disagree and dislike; hell, that may even be the way the author intended it to be.

I’ll leave you with a glimpse at Fallon Kelly, the heroine in my upcoming release, A BEAUTIFUL DISTRACTION. She was my favorite heroine to write, and I hope you all enjoy her and her beautiful flaws as much as I do!

EXCERPT:
Smoothing the fabric of her red dress over her legs and making sure the girls were in their correct positions, Fallon left backstage and walked into the main level of the club. The bodies were packed in tight tonight. All the men were in suits and blazers and the few women who dawdled around the tables were in little cocktail dresses.

Fallon was unforgivingly particular with the visual quality her club maintained, and that included the appearance of her clientele. She made sure her men at the door enforced her strict dress code. She didn’t want any Joe Blow off the street to meander into her club with his jeans around his ass and his shirt sloppy, and more than likely smelly, looking to get his rocks off. Seriously. It wasn’t that type of club. She had standards. Sure, it was uptight and some presumed her to be a royal bitch, but it was her club after all. And it’s what allowed her club to stand out among the rest. It’s what made hers so successful. It wasn’t prestigious and exclusive by accident.

Among the top-shelf favorites, her bars were also stocked with premium wines and liquors and delicious imported beers. The atmosphere was luxurious and seductive, her women sensual and glamorous. They were sexy in a way that ignited uninhibited fantasies while exuding a feminine poise and allure that was provocative and inviting, yet just out of reach.

Fallon worked her ass off to ensure that her club maintained its reputation. Anyone could come to Velour—as long as you played the part—and everyone wanted to.
Illusion was a damn good seduction.

Fallon had been around the block a time or two in her short twenty-five years and had quickly learned that if she wanted to get anywhere in this cutthroat society we all lived in, she was going to have to grab society by the balls and tell it to go to hell. Fallon did things her own way and she wasn’t going to apologize for it. She’d been at the top of the totem pole, all the way down to the bottom of the barrel, and everywhere in between. Acceptance wasn’t something she needed nor wanted from anyone—anyone other than herself, that is. And from where she stood in her Giuseppe Zanotti sculpted wedges, she was doing pretty damn well.

Growing up in a family where social status and your ability to eat your way through the social food chain were of utmost importance, it wasn’t lost on her that she was creating this too-good-for-you image with her elite invitations, strict dress policy, and selective staff. She’d been bred with that image ingrained in her mind, imprinted in her genes, and just to top it off, it was shoved down her throat with a golden spoon. She’d hated the pressure and conformity that her parents had inflicted on her. Pressure to live up to their “standards.” Yet here she was, setting the bar so damn high it was near impossible to reach without stepping on a few backs to get there.

But the only back she stepped on was her own.
And she wore stilettos.

One act of rebellion and her family threw her out on her ass without so much as a “It’s been a fun seventeen years; have a great life.” Or hell, she would have even settled for “Good luck out in the big bad world with nothing but the hundred bucks in your pocket and the clothes in your duffel.” But they had just stared at her with narrowed eyes and tight lips as they simply confiscated everything they had ever provided her with and slammed the door in her face.
She grinned.

If only they could see her now. They wouldn’t know whether to die from mortification at her career choice or drop to their knees and kiss her designer shoes and perfectly pedicured toes. But she had absolutely no plan on traversing down that little scenario. Point-blank, her family was dead to her. Nothing more than the hatred in her veins and the example of what kind of person she would never become locked into her memory. She may manifest the same aspiration for luxury as her parents, but it didn’t consume her. It did not define her.

{Spotlight + Giveaway} The Lost Stars: Tarnished Knight by Jack Campbell

Today on Seeing night Reviews I'm Spotlighting author Jack Cambell's latest Science Fiction Novel The Stars Stars Tarnished Knight and giving away a finished copy of Tarnished Knight. This is the first book in a new series.

BLURB:
The authority of the Syndicate Worlds’ government is crumbling. Civil war and rebellion are breaking out in many star systems despite the Syndic government’s brutal attempts to suppress disorder. Midway is one of those star systems, and leaders there must decide whether to remain loyal to the old order or fight for something new.

CEO Artur Drakon has been betrayed. The Syndic government failed to protect its citizens from both the Alliance and the alien enigmas. With a cadre of loyal soldiers under his command, Drakon launches a battle for control of the Midway Star System—assisted by an ally he’s unsure he can trust…

CEO Gwen Iceni was exiled to Midway because she wasn’t ruthless enough in the eyes of her superiors. She’s made them regret their assessment by commandeering some of the warships at Midway and attacking the remaining ships still loyal to the Syndicate empire. Iceni declares independence for the Midway Star System on behalf of the people while staying in charge as “President.” But while she controls the mobile fleet, she has no choice but to rely on “General” Drakon’s ground forces to keep the peace planet-side…

If their coup is to succeed, Drakon and Iceni must put their differences aside to prevent the population of Midway from rising up in rebellion against them, to defend Midway against the alien threat of the enigma race—and to ferret out saboteurs determined to reestablish Syndic rule…
