{Release Blitz: Review} Be With Me by Samantha Young

A best friends to lovers story set against the atmospheric backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.

Be With Me by Samantha Young is now live!

Be With Me by Samantha Young
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
THEME: Friends to Lovers

BLURB:

It was the friends-with-benefits proposition he never saw coming...

While Arran Adair might have followed the call of wanderlust in his younger years, it isn't the reason he stayed away from Ardnoch. Home now, desperate to put the sins of his past behind him, and rebuild his life in the Scottish Highlands, Arran could never have predicted Eredine Willows. The Ardnoch Estate Pilates instructor is a complicated mystery and one Arran can't help but want to solve.

Eredine has spent the last eight years hiding in Scotland and building walls between her and the people she cares about. Arran is the first Adair who doesn't treat her as if she's fragile and demands a genuine friendship. Yet, the attraction sizzling between them is undeniable. So when she realizes she trusts him, Eredine surprises them both by offering Arran one night of no-strings passion.

Arran knows one night will inevitably lead to a desire for more and he's willing to stay by Eredine's side for as long as it takes to convince her there's something real between them. However, just when Arran thinks they might build a future together, Eredine's past returns to stalk her. And Arran won't just have to battle her demons to keep them together. He'll need to battle his own.

REVIEW:

The Adair Family series has become one of my favorites, this family has grown so much and each time the couple is tested, they each have fears of opening up and all have a past that causes them to faulter with their trust. Be With Me I feel is the one that hit more emotional feels. Mostly because of Eredine, who is the quiet, sweet and shy yoga instructor and dear friend to many in the Adair family. Her past broke my heart and what she had to overcome just tugged at all the feels, and the Arran, his past broke my heart as well and I couldn't wait for these two to find happiness.

Be with Me follows Eredine who has become not only close with the whole Adair family but more so with the youngest brother Arran. The two have found a comfortable friendship, but when neither can deny their spark, the trust is tested, and even more so when their pasts have brought danger to Scottish Highlands once again.

I don't want to give too much away, but Young has a way with her character building and world building that always hooks me. Eredine and Arran have this amazing chemistry, its sexy and they both have this fire to them. All the past couples are back of course and moving forward with their romances as well as starting families. They have become a complex family of support and laughter, as well as suspense, they mystery and danger that is brought into each story because the family is in the spotlight always brings in a twist.

I can't wait for the last Adairs story with Brodan, his love interests was finally introduced and I know their is a great story there!

{Review} In Another World by Kelli A. Wilkins

In Another World by Kelli A. Wilkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
GENRE: Paranormal Romance
THEME: Mystery

BLURB:

Disgraced psychic medium Julie Kershaw has finally met her soul mate. The problem is he’s dead… and his spirit haunts the car she just bought.

The spirit of Detective Eddie Mahoney is determined to find his killer and needs Julie’s help. At first, she refuses. She’s tired of being called crazy and swore she’d never use her abilities to speak to the dead again—even if Eddie is handsome and charming.

Eddie persuades Julie to contact his former partner, Lou Kaplonski, to ask him to reopen his case. Skeptical, Lou dismisses Julie as a fake—until she proves she can communicate with the dead—and he finds out Eddie has a lot to say.

Julie channels Eddie’s spirit and together with Lou, the unusual trio tracks down leads and follows clues to solve Eddie’s murder. The case takes them down a dark and dangerous path filled with secrets, where nobody can be trusted.

As they work to find his killer, Julie falls for Eddie. Funny, smart, and sexy, Eddie is the guy of her dreams—and he doesn’t look or act the least bit dead. To her surprise, Eddie discovers a clever way they can be together, and they begin an ethereal romance.

When Lou’s investigation brings him too close to the killer, his life and Julie’s are put in danger—and Eddie may be the only one who can save them.

REVIEW:

I'm a big fan of paranormal romances, especially if they have suspense and mystery in the mix. In Another World is a well crafted story that has the reader solving a case along with the characters.

IN Another World follows Psychic medium Julie, who is trying to start over after a divorce and public court case that was horrible from beginning to end. However when she is in dire need of a car to get her to her destination, she wasn't expecting for it to come with a ghost and he asks for her help to solve his murder. The ghost is detective Eddie Mahoney and meeting Julie is not only lucky for him to find the bad guys but also the one person whom he can connect with in a deeper level. There is an instant spark. But there is danger in uncovering the truth and with Eddie not apart of the living its putting Julie right in the middle of danger.

This was a great paranormal romance, a real twist on how ghosts and mediums connect, there is a whole dream connection that I haven't read in any other paranormal ghost book that I found pretty interesting. I liked the side characters of Lou Eddies old partner and Eddies father. I do wish there were a little more characters in the sense of maybe other Ghost, with Julie being able to connect with Eddie why were no other ghost popping up?

In the end the who done it mystery was suspenseful and I really enjoyed how Wilkins unfolded the story. The ending was a surprise and unexpected. The romance was sexy and Wilkins created a unique way for the two leads to connect. With Wilkins being a new to me author I look forward to reading more from her.

BLURB:

My code name is Aries. The stars say I'm aggressive, dominant, first in line to lead.

The stars aren't wrong.

Zodiac Tactical is my company. It's run by those I've chosen for their skills and ability to outmaneuver adversaries. We guard, protect, rescue...assist on the side of the angels.

We eliminate the threat when nobody else can.

My pastime of putting bad guys out of business has created powerful enemies, but I've always made sure there was nothing in my life I couldn't live without.

Until now. Until her.

She's not a warrior, she's an artist. She sees colors everywhere and greets the world—and me—with a smile. I knew I shouldn't come near her from the beginning, but she's everything I've never been able to be.

And now a monster has taken her, caged her, to get even with me.

My code name is Aries. And I will burn the world to the ground to get her back.

REVIEW:

This is one of my top reads for 2021, Janie Crouch is a fantastic writer for romance and suspense, I was literally squeezing my kindle because the details were so descriptive that I felt I was in these intense situation with these wonderful characters. If you haven't read her Linear Tactical series, I recommend to add it to your must read list. Many of the characters in this series were introduced in the prior, however if you haven't, I promise you wont feel lost.

Code Name: Aries follows Ian DeRose, owner of Zodiac Tactical, a group of individual who protect, rescue and help in dangerous situations where ever they are needed. But Ian is on a mission to take down a group of dangerous people known as the Mosaic, which he has ties to from his past, when his brother controlled the group. Now they are even more dangerous, when one of their own has gone missing and then the one woman who find her way into Ian's heart is now a target. Wavy the sister to two of Linear Tactical workers is an artistic and bold woman. She catches Ian's eye and thrust into a very dangerous world.

As always with Crouch's stories the suspense is so good, intense and hear stopping. Wavy is a female lead that is easy to connect too but put through the ringer. My heart broke for her, I felt out of all the female leads in the prior series, she was put through the most intense storyline. She is my favorite not only for being so down to earth but just so real. Ian is an intense and very dominate needs to be in control person. A workaholic that is so stuck in his determination to stop Mosaic he is missing things around him. He gets a wake up call with Wavy.

Overall this was a fantastic beginning to this new suspense romance series by Crouch, she is my go to for this genre and I absolutely can't wait to see what she has in store for Sarge and they mysterious Bronwyn.

REVIEW:

Layla Reyne is a new to me author and one to keep an eye on. She is a fantastic writer, creating suspenseful, passionate intense romance all along a mystery plot that keeps the readers on their toes.

What We May Be follows Sean, an FBI agent who goes back home after the death of two people who were like family to him. Which brings him face to face with the two loves of his life he left behind. Charlotte and Trevor, a police officer and professor, loved Sean and he broke them when he left unexpectedly years ago. When murders start to occur in their town and each is somehow linked to Charlotte's past and Trevors school, they work together with Sean to stop a killer before its too late.

The mystery to me won me over, the killer using literature/ well known writings to layout his/her murders. It was scary and I never really could figure out who it was, I kept thinking along with the trio that they were close and then it took another turn.

The family connection, the trio was always surround by a close knit family and that what sets off a lot of events in this story. They mystery behind Sean leaving is another connection to family. Now the trio, Charllote, Trevor and Sean have to work through the tough past and this connection and love that never went away for any of them. These three had a bond unlike anything readers could image, it was beautiful crafter and heartbreaking, the author did a wonderful job crafting her characters and making you feel so connected to each of them.

In the end this suspenseful romance story kept me hooked until the end, it was sexy, mysterious and down right thrilling until the very end.

BLURB:

Buttoned-down police officer Eden Brixton is less than thrilled when she's partnered with smooth-talking wild card Marcus Swain in an undercover op. Both their careers hinge on convincing folks in tight-knit Bluelick, KY that he's the love of her life. She'd sooner tase him than prance around in practically nothing, hanging all over his chiseled body like she can't get enough.

For Swain, being partnered with the too-gorgeous-for-his-sanity Eden promises to test his well-honed control. She's smart, she's skilled, she's not just by-the-book--she knows the damn book backward and forward. And she hates his guts.

When Eden absolutely nails her role as his sexy fiancée--where the hell did she learn to seduce with a single glance?--Swain is knocked right on his ass. Living with a temptation like Eden makes it hard to remember their chemistry is strictly for show. And when the heat gets too real, doing the undercover op might prove to be their un-doing.

REVIEW:

My first book by author Samanthe Beck, this was a great steamy enemies to lovers story, following two undercover police who couldn't be more different.

Undercover Engagement follows Eden Brixton who is top of her class in the academy and a straight arrow. She is constantly annoyed by her fellow officer Marcus Swain, who is the one person whom she is constantly competing with. They are partnered on an undercover assignment in a small town called Bluelick. They have to be a convincing engaged couple to take town down a drug operation. Eden and Marcus have to put aside their differences to get the job done, but when their act as a couple starts a spark in them they cant deny, will they mission turn into a distraction?

Overall this was a fun, fast paced and sexy romance story, Marcus the Cajun sensation totally won me over. He's a smooth talking sexy troublemaker but a good cop that grew up in a broken household. Eden is a by the book girl trying to make her father proud, but Marcus brings out a different side to her and gets her to loosen up. They make a great team. I loved the small town of Bluelick, the secondary characters were hilarious and I even felt bad that they befriended a lot of the town people in their disguise because they are such nice people. The only piece that was hard to believe is that they needed to go undercover to stop one person, I would understand if it was a huge group but one person is a little much for an undercover job and didn't seem dangerous enough to me. In the end this was a greet quick steamy read.

BLURB:

A former gun for hire and a federal agent find themselves on the right side of love but the wrong end of a bullet in this Richter installment from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

On a fateful night in Las Vegas, FBI agent Leo Grant is working on a critical detail in a high-profile child prostitution trial when a beautiful woman jumps into the path of a bullet meant for him. Little does Leo know that the woman is Olivia, an ex-assassin who is seeking redemption one good deed at a time.

One minute, Olivia is lunging in front of Leo on the Vegas Strip. The next, she's waking up in the hospital in a haze of pain with no memory of her past, her enemies, or even her own name.

With Olivia suffering from memory loss and completely unaware of the danger she is in, it's up to Leo and Neil MacBain's team of operatives to keep her safe. With Olivia and Leo both unaware of her past crimes, the two have little reason to avoid their growing attraction. Slowly her past seeps in through the cracks as she struggles to find the answers of who she is. When the veil is lifted and her dark past is staring her down, Olivia must turn her back on Leo and the love she can never allow herself to have, and race to find her would-be killer.

REVIEW:

This was my first book by author Catherine Bybee and what a great introduction to her writing as well as a complex suspense world that she has built.

A Thin Disguise is the second installment to Bybee's Romantic Suspense series Richter. It follows Olivia who is a former student the Richter a school where the students were taught anything but normal. Olivia is on assignment where she is looking out for a witness who has a target on her back but some very prominent people who want her gone. But Olivia is shot and wakes up with no memory and is thrust into the world of people who want to protect her, especially from her past and Leo a federal agent who has a soft spot for this stubborn woman.

Olivia is an extremely complex character, she is always alone, on the run, not trusting anyone because of her past. She was an assassin and her connections to Richter brought her to Neil and his team of former Richter connections. They normally work with the government and police, doing things their way. All they want is the best for Olivia and know how she functions, with her memory lose, they just have to wait for the ball to drop. She has one heck of a past and it was interesting to see her memory fighting both the new possibility and what her life has always been like.

Leo is trying to stop these powerful people from targeting an innocent young woman. He comes across Olivia at random and cant get her out of his head. They end up randomly meeting again which ends in a shooting. Now he's brought into a world he didn't know existed. I loved his character, he just a good man who falls hard for a someone who thinks she cant have anything good.

Overall this was a fantastic story, lots and I mean lots of suspenseful moments. Wonderful secondary characters and a background story that I feel will unfold more with each book. It did take me a bit to catch up to what was going on in the beginning, as this is the second book and I have not read the first. However I was easily enthralled with the story that I couldn't put it down and had to know more. Now I'm off to read the first to tie in the connections.
