It's been a while since I found a good mafia romance and this was my first introduction to author Ava Harrison. I can say now that she has earned a new fan and I'm excited to read her other books after enjoying Ruthless Monarch.

Ruthless Monarch follows Viviana, who many people would believe she lives the pampered life, being the daughter of a Governor. But there is nothing perfect about her family, he father is a monster and he mother ignores everything thats in front of her. Viviana is trapped and now her father has plans for her, little does he know is biggest enemy Matteo Amante knows his plan and is about to turn his world and Viviana's upside down.

Viviana is a broken character, she has been used, manipulated and treated awful by her parents her whole life. The only love she has known had been from her nanny and her nannies children. Now that she is graduating her father has set her future for her, to tie her to a dangerous man. But Matteo Amante steps in instead, as the King of the East Coast mafia, he takes Viviana as his wife. Matteo is "ruthless", violent and will do anything and everything to destroy his cousin and the Governor who are working to try and destroy him. Viviana is the key but he isn't prepared for just how innocent and how much he and Viviana need each other.

The story is full of suspense, I held my breathe not knowing if Viviana was going to run into another danger or if Matteo was going to be just as bad as his cousin in the end. The romance was fantastic, sexy, passionate and every bit hotness needed for this kind of darker romance. Harrison wonderfully crafted this dark world and knew how to keep her readers guessing. I highly recommend this story to anyone needing some spicy mafia romance with a ton of suspenful moments.

REVIEW:

I was super excited to get this book bundle of some new to me authors and some of my favorites! This is a great compilation for those looking to be introduced to these fabulous authors and their world of romance, form sweet and passionate, dark and angsty, to heartbreaking and making the heart beat faster, it had everything and more.

I'll snippet each story, but I highly recommend this to anyone looking for new romances authors and haven't tried some of these talented ladies.

The Player and The Catch, this story stole my heart and made me love me some baseball players. I was already a fan of Bromberg and this was one I hadn't read yet. It was sweet and smoking hot, the chemistry was off the charts for the leads and the backstory of each was wonderfully crafted, heartbreaking and they grow so much together through the story.

In Peace Lies Havoc by Amo Jones, was my first introduction to this author and boy was I surprised one this one. It is seriously dark, I was a little taken back by it and wasnt prepared for the angst the violence and the triggers that some other may not feel comfortable reading on. But I stayed up late getting sucked into this story, I needed to know the mystery. The leads were angsty and had chemistry I couldn't get enough of, but there was magic in Amo Jones' writing and I was hooked.

Enshrine is one that will hit you in all the feels. Its a story of a woman who goes on a journey to fight an illness that is tough to talk about. But this woman is tough as nails and she is brought down to her lowest. Thankfully in the form of a tall, muscular and mysterious, Bruno and her best Friend Rebecca help her not give up and its a beautiful written tear jerking story. I adored Bruno and Callies story and was happily introduced to author Chelle Blis.

The Birthday List, I had already read and boy there is not enough praise I can give Denvey Perry, she is a freaking fabulous writer and her stories (and I have read all of them) just suck me in every time. This one in particular is such a beautiful story, of a woman who loved so deep and lost. But she finds a man who helps her discover herself again and realizes she can love again too. I cant tell you enough how much I loved this story.

REVIEW:

This was my first book by Shantel Tessier, I'm not one to read darker romances very often but the summary caught my interest and I'm always looking for new authors. I'm happy to say with the intense story line, the dark hero, the female lead that I rooted for to find some sort of happiness, and secondary characters that I'm looking forward to getting their story, I will definitely be coming back to this series.

Titan Emilee who is leaving her job and home to go be with her mother who is ill and doesn't have much time left. But what she comes home to is the death of her father and is now practically owned by his business partner that holds her mothers health and any finances over her head. She has no choice but to comply, but fate brings her face to face with her ex and the one man who has wanted her fo a long time Titan. Together they work through their pain, their hatred and try to find our what is really going on with the death of her father and missing money that is owed to Titan and his partners the Kings.

There are some very dark topics and triggers that may make some readers uncomfortable, since this was my first by this author, I was a little surprised and felt so much pain for the characters more than anything. I wanted them to find happiness and get out of the dark life that they were stuck in. The romance is heavy, hot and I enjoyed watching it grow. There is menage moments, but it was out of friendship and love. It was interested to see how both Titan and Emilee grew and how they built the respect and love to each other.

In the end I had know idea how the leads were going to solve the biggest mystery of the book, so many villains were brought to light and I never knew what to expect. I love suspense and mystery and this story had a ton. I also adored all the secondary characters, there were some characters from a past book, that I know got to get their story, I really look forward to knowing more of Tessier's characters, the world building is fantastic.

Titan steps up to me.

“Don’t …”

“Look who found her voice,” he muses.

“Shut up, Titan.” I snap, pulling my cell out of my pocket and dial Jasmine’s number. It rings once, twice. Three times. I pull it from my ear, and he snatches it from my hand. “Hey …”

His smile just widens. “So you do remember me.”

Like I could forget. “Give me my phone back.” I order reaching out for it.

He places it in the front pocket of his jeans. “Drop to your knees.”

“Excuse me?” I blink.

His dark blue eyes look me up and down, and the corners of his lips turn up like he knows a secret. And he does. Several of them about me. “Drop to your knees and I’ll give it back to you.”

My blood boils at his words. “Fuck you!”

He steps into me, pressing my back into my door, and I gasp in surprise. I thought he was big, but his hard chest presses into mine, and I have to tilt my head back to look him in the eyes. Even with my heels on, this man towers over me. I always liked that about him. He’s the tallest of all the Kings.

The scent of his cologne hits my nose, and I hate how much I like it. It brings back old memories that I want to drown in, but I make myself stay here in the present. The light pole I parked under casts a shadow over his chiseled face, making it glow like a ghost from my past.

“We came close that one time.” His eyes go to my chest, and I know he can feel my heart pound against his. He reaches up and runs his knuckles over my neck. His skull ring burns the skin, making me shiver. “So fucking close. It was the only time I could actually tolerate you.”

“Titan.” I swallow, trying to calm my nerves.

“Yeah, Em?” he asks as his eyes roam my face.

A fucking whimper comes out when he calls me by my old nickname. Then my breath quickens when he places his hands on my face, caging me in.

REVIEW:

I’m such a big fan of Lexi Foss, I discovered her Immortal Curse and Blood Alliance series earlier this year and was immediately hooked by her world building and character developments. Her writing is wonderfully done, and you can feel how much love she puts into her work.

I was super excited for a new series from her, focused more on contemporary suspense romance, this would shy away from her more paranormal work I’ve read and I couldn’t wait to dig in! Let’s just say this was one smoking hot book, this is dark, but so is the Blood Alliance series so I was prepared. The chemistry between the leads Killian and Amara was perfection and lets just say all the side characters aka the trained killers have gotten me super excited for future books because I want more!!!

Amara is a fantastic female lead, she is determined, strong and smart, has her mind set on a goal to escape. Killian is the ideal killer, ruthless to the core and he always gets his mark, but getting Amara back to her fiancé is seeming to be a lot harder not only due to her determination but this chemistry neither were prepared for.

Overall this was a fantastic story, its dark yes, but the storyline and the world of the Cavalieri Della Morte is so intriguing, I wanted more, need more and cant wait for more.
