Indigo Ridge by Devney PerryMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
BLURB:
According to her pops, all she has to do is earn favor with the Edens. But winning over the town's founding family might have been easier if not for her one-night stand with their oldest son. In her defense, it was her first night in town and she didn't realize that the rugged and charming man who wooed her into bed was Quincy royalty.
Sleeping with Griffin Eden was a huge mistake, one she's trying to forget. He's insufferable, arrogant and keeps reminding everyone that she's an outsider. Winslow does her best to avoid Griffin, but when a woman is found dead on Eden property, the two of them have no choice but to cross paths.
As clues to the murderer lead to one of Quincy's own, Griffin realizes Winslow is more than he gave her credit for. Beautiful and intelligent, she proves hard to resist. For him. And the killer.
REVIEW:
Indigo Ridge follows Winslow, who has just taken the position of chief of police in Quincy. She is considered an outsider and is thought of as very young to be the chief. But also her grandfather is the mayor, so her welcome isn't as welcoming as she hoped. When she first comes to town she meets a stranger whom she falls in "bed" with that she finds out won't be a stranger for long. When a young girl is found dead near a well known cliff called Indigo Ridge, Winslow's gut is telling her something isn't right. She also has to deal with the fact that her stranger she had a one night stand with is actually Griffin Eden, from the well known Eden family and the girls death happens on the families land. The clash right off, until neither can seems to resist that spark. However Winslow just won't let go of that girls death, she doesn't think its suicide as well as she doesn't agree with the similar deaths that have come before this one. She may be putting herself more and more in danger,
Winslow is one of the toughest female leads I've read about in a long time. She has been through so much and still can do a tough job and deal will such sad situation with a straight head. She goes through her own journey in Quincy, finding her new path in her new home. Griffin has a lot on his shoulders, bearing the weight of responsibility for his whole family and their legacy. What he finds in Winslow is not something he thought he needed but when he does find it he doesn't want to let it go.
Overall this was a beautiful written suspense romance, with a ton of colorful side characters that I can't wait to see more of in the next installment.
