I've been recommended Vanessa Vale multiple times and have heard really wonderful comments about her novels. I was going into North not knowing what to expect with this author and was excited to dig in.
North follows Jed an FBI agent who goes undercover in his hometown pretending that he was a disgraced agent and is now back working for a not so great person. His mission with the FBI is to get close to the new CEO that took over for the original person the FBI was investigating, Macon Wainright. However the new CEO is wainwrights daughters, someone is family knows as she dated his brother. North is cold right off, but Jed knows that there is something more going on in the company and in Norths family than meets the eye.
This story has a lot of twist and turns, its a who done it story line and it keeps the reader guessing until the very end. I was happy to say I didn't figure out who it was until it was reveled. The winner of this story was North, what she has gone through for her family and to just keep them safe will break the readers hearts. She may seem cold but she has the biggest heart of them all. She is a heck of a woman. My only issue was with Jed, I was never really able to connect with him, his persona was a little off putting and even though his character gets better near the end.
Overall I really enjoyed the Suspenful side and the family dynamic of the Wainright brothers with their sister, you can feel how much they cared for each other through all the suffering they had from their fathers cruelty. The romance is sexy, off the charts, even though Jed was not my favorite you can feel the intensity of his connection to North and vise versa. I look forward to trying more of Vales story and I'm hoping we get books on more of the Wainright brothers.
