BLURB:

Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. After an unthinkable tragedy destroys his family, he’s cut off all ties to his former life so he can battle his grief the only way he knows how.

Alone.

So when Piper Campbell knocks on his door, rambling on about being his new neighbor, he slams the door in her face.

But Kaine’s gruff demeanor doesn’t scare her. She’s set on living in Montana and starting over after a terrible divorce. And she wouldn’t mind having a fling to chase away the pain of her husband’s betrayal. Her handsome, albeit rude, neighbor is the perfect candidate.

Yet what neither of them suspect is that their no-strings affair will result in the surprise of Piper’s lifetime—and Kaine’s worst fear.

REVIEW:

Perry is one of my go to authors when I'm looking for sexy romance and a beautiful sometimes emotional story-line. The Lark Cove series has been fantastic, each character in this small town has so much growth, love and wonderful HEAs. But it takes a lot to get that happy ending, for this story was a heartbreaking one and I really had to hold back the tears.

Tragic follows Piper, the assistant to Logan (Main Lead in Book 1) who has just moved to Lark Cove after finalizing her divorce and needing a fresh start. With the help of her boss and his wife, she finds a new house that needs a lot of love. But it comes with a not so keen on her moving in and making noise neighbor named Kaine. Kaine has a tragic past and his emotional state is mostly shown in anger, especially towards Piper, until the two clash and meet with smoking hot chemistry. The two have a lot of layers, both are going through a new life change and Kaine has been on one for years. Now together they are trying to find themselves and maybe, just maybe with each other.

Piper is a bundle of fun, I love her attitude and spunk, she's a great assistant for Logan and an even better friend to his wife. But she is also trying to escape her annoying ex who doesn't want their marriage to be over, even though he's the one at fault for ruining it. She sees something in Kaine that is broken, but she also sees a man who has a big heart, that makes beautiful things out of wood and also brings out a side of her she didn't know was missing.

Kaine is a broken man, having lost a wife and child in a tragic way, it was heartbreaking to read his story to see how his family was connected and how alone he was. I was so happy for him to find Piper, she woke him up, challenged him and brought out the man he use to be. There are many layers to Kaine some good some bad, Piper has to help him through it even if it breaks her heart or he hurts her.

Overall I loved this story, I read it in one sitting and just held my breath hoping these two could find a way to heal. Perry is a master at creating emotional stories but also has the ability to connect you to the characters and make you feel like your there. I can't wait for more, some new characters that I'm hoping she'll come back to in the future were introduced so I'll keep my fingers crossed they'll get their story too.
