About OPPOSITION:

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

EXCERPT:

Katy

I still stared at Daemon, completely aware that everyone else except him was watching me. Closely. But why wouldn’t he look at me? A razor-sharp panic clawed at my insides. No. Thiscouldn’t be happening. No way.My body was moving before I even knew what I was doing.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Dee shake her head and one of the Luxen males step forward, but I was propelled by an inherent need to prove that my worst fears were not coming true.

After all, he’d healed me, but then I thought of what Dee had said, of how Dee had behaved with me. What if Daemon was like her? Turned into something so foreign and cold? He would’ve healed me just to make sure he was okay.

I still didn’t stop.
Please, I thought over and over again. Please. Please. Please. On shaky legs, I crossed the long room, and even thoughDaemon hadn’t seemed to even acknowledge my existence, I walked right up to him, my hands trembling as I placed them on his chest.

“Daemon?” I whispered, voice thick.

His head whipped around, and he was suddenly staring down at me. Our gazes collided once more, and for a second I saw something so raw, so painful in those beautiful eyes. And then his large hands wrapped around my upper arms. The contact seared through the shirt I wore, branding my skin, and I thought—I expected—that he would pull me against him, that he would embrace me, and even though nothing would be all right, it would be better.

Daemon’s hands spasmed around my arms, and I sucked in an unsteady breath.

His eyes flashed an intense green as he physically lifted me away from him, setting me back down a good foot back.

I stared at him, something deep in my chest cracking. “Daemon?”

He said nothing as he let go, one finger at a time, it seemed, and his hands slid off my arms. He stepped back, returning his attention to the man behind the desk.

“So . . . awkward,” murmured the redhead, smirking.

I was rooted to the spot in which I stood, the sting of rejection burning through my skin, shredding my insides like I was nothing more than papier-mâché.

“I think someone was expecting more of a reunion,” the Luxen male behind the desk said, his voice ringing with amusement. “What do you think, Daemon?”

One shoulder rose in a negligent shrug. “I don’t think anything.”

My mouth opened, but there were no words. His voice, his tone, wasn’t like his sister’s, but like it had been when we first met. He used to speak to me with barely leashed annoyance, where a thin veil of tolerance dripped from every word. The rift in my chest deepened.
For the hundredth time since the Luxen arrived, SergeantDasher’s warning came back to me. What side would Daemon and his family stand on? A shudder worked its way down my spine. I wrapped my arms around myself, unable to truly process what had just happened.

“And you?” the man asked. When no one answered, he tried again. “Katy?”

I was forced to look at him, and I wanted to shrink back from his stare. “What?” I was beyond caring that my voice broke on that one word.

The man smiled as he walked around the desk. My gaze flickered over to Daemon as he shifted, drawing the attention of the beautiful redhead. “Were you expecting a more personal greeting?” he asked. “Perhaps something more intimate?”

I had no idea how to answer. I felt like I’d fallen into the rabbit hole, and warnings were firing off left and right. Something primal inside me recognized that I was surrounded by predators.

Don't miss the books that started it all...

{Blog Tour: Review + Excerpt + Giveaway} The Ophelia Prophecy by Sharon Lynn Fisher

Seeing Night Reviews is the next stop in the Ophelia Prophecy tour for Sharon Lynn Fisher!

The Ophelia Prophecy by Sharon Lynn Fisher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

GENRE: Science Fiction
THEME: Romance, Mystery
RECEIVED: Publisher

BLURB:
Our world is no longer our own. We engineered a race of superior fighters -- the Manti, mutant humans with insect-like abilities. Twenty-five years ago they all but destroyed us. In Sanctuary, some of us survive. Eking out our existence. Clinging to the past.

Some of us intend to do more than survive.
Asha and Pax -- strangers and enemies -- find themselves stranded together on the border of the last human city, neither with a memory of how they got there.

Asha is an archivist working to preserve humanity’s most valuable resource -- information -- viewed as the only means of resurrecting their society.

Pax is Manti, his Scarab ship a menacing presence in the skies over Sanctuary, keeping the last dregs of humanity in check.

Neither of them is really what they seem, and what humanity believes about the Manti is a lie.

With their hearts and fates on a collision course, they must unlock each other's secrets and forge a bond of trust before a rekindled conflict pushes their two races into repeating the mistakes of the past.

REVIEW:

I couldn’t wait to read another science fiction romance by Fisher. After Ghost Planet I knew she would create another romantic plot twisting storyline with all the thrills of science fiction. I wasn’t disappointed, I was intrigue, surprised and hooked by the idea of insect human hybrids, but don’t worry this isn’t like the movie The Fly, our hero has the instincts but otherwise is human in appearance.

The Ophelia Project follows Ash and Pax who are strangers that have woken up on the edge of an off-limits area. Neither knows how they got there, or why they are together. Plus their attire is very minimal which makes their first impressions defensive and confusing. But Pax isn’t a human; he’s a Manti and wants to get some answer from Ash. Now Ash is Pax’s prisoner on his ship with his sister, but this is only the beginning of their troubles. Their journey brings them to finding out the truth, to enemies from both sides; attraction towards each other; politics and hoping love will bring two races together.

Ash at the beginning was a bit weak for my liking when it comes to a heroine. However she is smart and even escapes Pax holding her prisoner. She thinks of Pax as the enemy because of his race but their attraction towards each other is undeniable. Her spunk and bravery get her through this whirlwind that brought her and Pax together. The tension was my favorite part, but luckily fisher knows how to develop romance at a great pace.

Pax was by far my favorite character and I felt the most developed. He has an interesting background because of his upbringing and race. He’s a Manti, a hybrid with insect abilities that all started out a science experiment. But the experiment didn’t just alter DNA of some human; it ended up creating a whole race that eventually took over. But for Pax he is also the son of the amir, the highest-ranking military officer of the Manti. Making Pax a “prince” and heir to possibly taking over his father’s position on day. What I loved most about Pax was learning how he differed from human aka Ash; he wanted her as his mate, which is obvious right from the start. But he also isn’t the enemy she thought he would be either. Plus the romance was hot and luckily Pax isn’t at all insect like except for his eyes.

Overall this wasn’t as strong as Ghost Planet but it was top-notch science fiction goodness, I loved the originality of the plot and having hybrid insect is something I’ve never read before. The secondary characters like Pax’s sister Iris, his ship Banshee and the villainous Cleo were what brought to life some exciting, suspenseful and intense moments for Pax and Ash. The ending wraps up everything really quick, but the readers will be happy to know this is a stand-alone and we get an ending! I’m a bit overwhelmed with trilogies and love when authors can suck you into a world and resolve the plot in one book. I’m hoping that Fisher will bring us back to this world and continue with maybe a spinoff with Iris.

RECOMMENDATION:

This is a heavy science fiction novel that will literally take the readers out of this world. Fans Revived by Cat Patrick and Ghost Planet by Sharon Fisher, will enjoy The Ophelia Prophecy by Sharon Lynn Fisher.

EXCERPT:
Water pooled around Asha’s hips, soaking her thin cotton dress. She studied the glimmering surface of the lake, and the rocky hillside looming on the opposite side.
The reservoir. How did I get here?
Closing her eyes, she pressed her fingers to her temples. The last thing she remembered was climbing to the roof of the Archive with her father. It was a beautiful spring evening, and they’d planned to picnic and watch the sunset. She’d stepped off the ladder onto the corrugated, white-washed metal, and then . . .
Sleep, Ophelia.
She grasped at the words as they breezed across her consciousness. They had the ring of command, yet she had no memory of who had spoken them, or why.
A masculine moan sounded, so close she rolled into a crouch and skittered into the shallow water. The lithe movement of her own body surprised her almost as much as the unexpected voice.
Just beyond the depression she’d left on the beach, a naked form stirred. A stranger. His gaze riveted on her. He sat up straight, fists digging into the sand. No, not sand. His body rested on a bed of some soft, fibrous material.
She remembered the flimsy dress—now wet and clinging to her body—and hugged her bent legs, concealing herself as best she could. Her heart pounded against her thighs.
“Who are you?” they both demanded.
So the confusion was mutual.
“You first,” he said. A command, not a courtesy.
She hesitated. The man now seemed familiar—something about the eyes. They curved down at the inside corners, making them appear to slant under his dark, arched eyebrows. But she couldn’t place him.
He rose to a crouch, eyes moving over her like an extension of his arms, prying at the locked arms that concealed her body from him.
She reached up to release the clip that held her coiled hair to the back of her head, thinking she would cover herself with it. She gasped to discover her heavy tresses were gone.
Tears of confusion welled in her eyes. Fear knotted her stomach.
“What’s your name?” the stranger insisted.
“Asha,” she whispered, uncertain. There’d been another name a moment ago. A name that had seemed to mean something.
Her throat tightened, strangling her words, as she said, “I don’t understand…”
“What are you doing here?”
She raised her eyes to his face, shrinking from the heat of his gaze. “I don’t know.”
His eyes bored into hers, probing for the thoughts behind them. He frowned, brow furrowing with doubt. He doesn’t believe me.
“Who are you?” she repeated, indignation nudging past the fear that gripped her.
He slid his hands up his shoulders to rub his neck, baring the hard lines of his stomach, revealing pale marks under either side of his ribcage. Scars.
“Paxton,” he said. One hand moved to the back of his head, and he winced. He probed the sore spot with his fingers.
“Why are you here?”
“I don’t know.”
She glanced again at the fibrous nest. “What’s that?”
“Carapace.”
She blinked at him, the meaning of the familiar word eluding her. Before she could question him further, he rose to his feet, scanning the horizon. Her eyes lingered on the marks below his ribs.
He stood so long—motionless and studying the edge of the sky—she began to think he’d forgotten her. His composure was troubling. There was a shared mystery here, clearly, but they were not equal participants.
“How can you be so calm?” she asked, voice lifting with anxiety. “Do you know something I don’t? Has this kind of thing happened to you before?”
Paxton glanced down at the nest. “Yes.”
She gaped at him, but the low whine of an approaching ship changed the subject. Her heart jumped as the black beetle hummed into view, dragging its own reflection across the surface of the lake.
She sprang to her feet. “That’s an enemy ship!” she cried. “We have to go!”
Technically the war was over. Very little left for the Manti to fight. But they still ruled the air, keeping tabs on the last dregs of humanity. Citizens of Sanctuary were forbidden to wander away from the city, and the reservoir marked the border.
Again his eyes skewered her to the spot. “No, we wait here. That’s my ship.”
“Your ship? I don’t…”
She side-stepped a couple meters down the beach, eyeing him fearfully.
Overhead, the beetle whirred to rest, cupped wings lifting to allow a controlled vertical landing. With a series of loud clicks it nestled into the sand, hover gear lowering and locking back against the hull. The lusterless, black skin of the vessel looked like rubber, but she knew it was a secreted resin. As she stared, frozen to the spot, the hull lightened from jet to blond, until it was almost invisible against the sand.
“Pax, you okay?” a feminine voice sounded from the ship’s external com.
“I’m okay,” called Asha’s companion. “Drop the ramp.”
“Who’s that with you?”
Paxton frowned at Asha. “I was hoping you could tell me.”

{Weekly Rewind} Alien Research by Gini Koch

Weekly Rewind is a feature that on SNR where I discuss a past book that I enjoyed, one that I would recommend and love to read again and again. As well as upcoming books in long running series.

This weeks rewind: Alien Research by Gini Koch

Blurb:
When rumors of a new super-drug surface, the FBI comes to Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini for help. It becomes quickly apparent that the drug is merely the tip of a deadly iceberg and a much more insidious plan is underway involving Titan Security, Gaultier Enterprises, and YatesCorp.

As newly discovered A-Cs and hybrids begin to surface, each with expanded and deadly talents, more and more signs point to a new evil genius who’s using the A-Cs and their enemies both as guinea pigs. Then Area 51 and the Dulce Science Center go silent while Alpha Team, Airborne, and most of the worldwide A-C Security team are there for training. And if that’s not bad enough, Centaurion Division is hit with more bad, and deadly, news: Chernobog the Ultimate, isn’t a hacker myth, he’s a real person -- and he’s on the bad guys’ side.

Now Kitty and company must find the real Dr. Feelgood and stop him or her before the latest version of Surcenthumain hits the streets and more people they love are harmed, or worse. But when the inconceivable happens, Kitty’s focused on two things only: reviving the ACE entity before their enemies realize Earth’s best protection isn’t actually active…and revenge.

Why Alien Research??

I chose Alien Research not only because it was just released earlier this month but also because its one of the longest running series that I've been reading from the start. Gini Koch has a fantastic creative mind when it comes to conspiracy's, espionage, humor and alien awesomeness. This is the eighth book in her Kitty Katt series and it just keeps getting better and better, luckily this series has never fallen under the dreaded curse that some series fall into, where the characters don't draw you in anymore. This one has kept me hooked and entertained with Kitty as the lead and her growing involvement in alien politics.

If you haven't read this series or continued with it, I highly encourage picking this series up, even with the large amount of characters to follow, I have never been overwhelmed or lost.

{Review} of Zenn Scarlett by Christian Schoon

Zenn Scarlett by Christian Schoon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

GENRE: YA Science Fiction
THEME: Aliens, Space
RECEIVED: Publisher
AUTHORS BLOG: Christian Schoons' Site

BLURB:
Zenn Scarlett is a resourceful, determined 17-year-old girl working hard to make it through her novice year of exovet training. That means she's learning to care for alien creatures that are mostly large, generally dangerous and profoundly fascinating. Zenn’s all-important end-of-term tests at the Ciscan Cloister Exovet Clinic on Mars are coming up, and, she's feeling confident of acing the exams. But when a series of inexplicable animal escapes and other disturbing events hit the school, Zenn finds herself being blamed for the problems. As if this isn't enough to deal with, her absent father has abruptly stopped communicating with her; Liam Tucker, a local towner boy, is acting unusually, annoyingly friendly; and, strangest of all: Zenn is worried she's started sharing the thoughts of the creatures around her. Which is impossible, of course. Nonetheless, she can't deny what she's feeling.

Now, with the help of Liam and Hamish, an eight-foot sentient insectoid also training at the clinic, Zenn must learn what's happened to her father, solve the mystery of who, if anyone, is sabotaging the cloister, and determine if she's actually sensing the consciousness of her alien patients... or just losing her mind. All without failing her novice year....

REVIEW:
It’s always great to find a young adult story that finally get’s away from the love triangles, vampires, werewolves, and fae plots. This is a science fiction story, the characters are living on a different planet and aliens are real! I read some other reviews on this book and I felt a lot of people just couldn’t understand or were too stuck in the paranormal world to get into a science fiction story. I really enjoyed Zenn Scarlett, the complex alien life forms, the strain in politics with humans and alien, and one girl being stuck in the middle of a conspiracy.

Zenn Scarlett follows Zenn a young girl who lives on Mars in one of the many colonies from earth. Following in her mothers foots steps she strives to become an exoveterinarian (an alien veterinarian). At the moment she is studying and hoping to pass all her test, but for some reason things aren’t going her way. Zenn starts to realize something is happening at the cloister (animal alien clinic), someone is targeting her home and mysterious disappearances with transport ships may be connected. Zenn is put right in the middle of it all.

Zenn is a determined and smart young girl who lost the one person whom she strives to be like. Her mother’s death took a toll on not only her but also her father. He leaves her uncle in charge of the cloister while he goes off on his own mission, leaving problems behind and Zenn worried. I felt for Zenn, the readers could feel her concern for her father and the problems in debt that the clinic has. She wants one thing to go right not only for her but for her uncle until her dad returns. Zenn’s character development is great even though she struggles with her test; she realizes something is happening to her. A connection to the alien animals that has hurt her testing and confused her, I hope we get more insight on this in the next book on why this ability is happening to her.

There are many colorful characters that go on this wild adventure of mystery with Zenn. A fellow student name Hamish who is an intelligent alien described to be an insect type alien. He becomes good friends with Zenn helping her with the many strange occurrences, also learning along with Zenn about taking care of alien animals, and how to be his own person. Then there is Liam a human that doesn’t understand the importance of alien animals like Zenn does. He has a lot to learn and makes plenty of mistakes, but Zenn is someone who helps teach him why to care about these creatures. I also sense a hint of a possible romance, which I’d love to see.

Overall Christian Schoon does a fantastic job creating unique and memorable alien creatures and beings. It will give you the sense of what life Zenn has grown up knowing. It makes me wonder how Schoon came up with the many alien creatures; they’re so detailed in where they are from, what they eat, their personalities, and the whole shebang. I do hope in the next book we get more details about Mars. I loved getting sucked onto planet Mars and taken on an adventure with Zenn, Hamish and Liam. I can’t wait to continue this journey especially after the suspenseful ending. I applaud Schoon for a great debut.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is young adult science fiction novel that will take you on a great adventure that’s out of this world, literally. Fans of the Unraveling series by Elizabeth Norris and The Host by Stephenie Meyers will love Zenn Scarlett by Christian Schoon.

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

REVIEW:
Once again I’m addicted to a series by Jennifer Armentrout, her characters are just so unforgettable and the plot grabs me right from the start. The second in the Lux series I feel was better than the first, with lots more government secrets and involvement, which made the actions and pace non-stop.

Onyx follows Katy, who is trying her hardest to resist her very attractive but very alien neighbor Daemon. But with their connection, he isn’t making this easy for her and neither does the fact that Katy doesn’t feel like herself anymore. With the enemy hiding at every corner it’s hard to figure out which side is the right one, but Katy can’t say no to being near Daemon nor when they need each other to stay safe.

Katy, I swear I don’t think this girl knows how lucky she is, if I were in her shoes I would love having a guy or alien as smoking hot as Daemon wanting to keep me safe. Anyways, Katy is a real stubborn girl in this book, which I don’t blame her after finding out that aliens surround her whole neighborhood. As always the bickering, steamy and hilarious moments between Daemon and Katy are fantastic and are a major reason why I love this series so much. At some moments I felt that Katy needed to get over the fact of what Daemon is and that their connection was a “REAL” connection. In the end this story has a lot of extreme changes for her and put her in the middle of something bog and very dangerous.

Daemon, what can I say about this guy that everyone doesn’t already know. He’s still as sexy, frustrating and protective as ever. But this time around he’s trying his hardest to show Katy he really does want her and won’t stop until she feels it too. He also gets a bit of competition and boy… this guy doesn’t like competition. He has some mayor changes happen as well, mostly focusing on his family and alien kind. Let’s just say the ending was a shocker!

Overall I can’t get enough of this series, the action in Onyx is intense, the romance is steamier than ever and the danger is getting more and more extreme. I’m holding off reading the next one since I hear there is a cliffhanger and well I want to wait for the 4th is out to read book 3. This is a series that you shouldn’t be missing out, it has everything young adult readers would want, science fiction, romance, humor and lots of mystery and action, what more can you ask for? Don’t miss out on this, you’ll love Armentrouts wonderful writing and character building, that you’ll never want to put the book down.

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

REVIEW:
After reading Jennifer Armentrout’s Covenant series and loving it as much as I did, I was ecstatic to start her new series Lux. Not only am I a big fan of science fiction but I love when character really hook the readers and make them never want to stop reading. Obsidian did just that, I loved every bit of this series and never wanted it to end.

Obsidian follows seventeen-year-old Katy to her new town in West Virginia. Leaving behind the beach life of Florida and trying to start fresh with her mom after the loss of her father. But once Katy meets her neighbors everything starts to get a little weird and then a lot weird. Dee is a sweet bubbly and friendly girl and immediately becomes friends with Katy but Dee’s brother Daemon is everything but friendly and very annoyingly frustrating. They also have a secret and Katy is about to step right in the middle of it.

Katy is every bit of normal, sweet, smart and never gets in trouble type girl… That was until she meets Daemon who annoys her to know end with his hot and cold attitude. I really connected with her character, she could be anyone’s best friend and she’s someone who will fight and help anyone. Her connection with Daemon was smoking hot and I love the frustrating chemistry between the two. But the friendship she made with his sister Dee was really great to follow and they always had each other’s backs.

Dee is so sweet and all she wants is to have one friend that isn’t like all the other ones. She argues and convinces her brother that Katy is someone who won’t compromise who they are. Her relationship with Daemon really is extremely strong; they only have each other and would fight to the death to protect one another.

Daemon, I can now understand why so many reviewers love this guy. If I knew him personally I would probably pull my hair out because he’s so frustrating and arrogant. He is someone who feels he needs to be the protector, but with Katy coming into his life everything changes. He feels this connection with her and usually does a pretty good job ticking her off, but you can see he just wants to be near her. I loved that even though Katy and Daemon have the instant chemistry they don’t fall head of heels instantly for each other, there is anger, tension and a lot keeping them apart. It spiced up the romance a lot and I cant wait to see what more happens with these two.

The best part of the story, which I don’t want to get into to much detail about, is the two different alien species that Armentrout created. Its pretty much Light vs. Dark, aka good vs. evil, I loved the bit of background we get and hope more details are to come in the next book.

Overall Obsidian has taken a top spot on my favorite books list, I loved the writing, the alien species that was created, the fantastic characters and of course the romance. In a way this brought back a memory of watching Roswell when I was younger and how much I loved the alien romance story. I finished this all in one sitting and loved the fast passed plot that made me crave for more. I highly recommend this series and anything written by Jennifer Armentrout is a must read.

Summertime for Blair Reynolds and her friends had always been carefree and fun...until the summer they happened upon something that was not human. As they band together in a fight for their lives, Blair's true love becomes something more than human. Something unnatural. And their survival depends entirely upon their ability to keep a secret.

REVIEW:
I didn’t know what to expect with Cicada the synopsis caught my attention right away and the cover didn’t give much of a hit of what to expect. But I truly enjoyed this one of a kind young adult novel. Finally! A book without the usual paranormal creatures and a plot that just kept on making me guess. Though the beginning was a bit slow for me, when it started picking up I couldn’t put this book down.

Blair Reynolds lives in a small town and she is about to start summer with her friends. But it’s a summer that not only is their last together before college, it’s a summer filled with secrets after finding something that know one would ever believe.

Blair is dealing with being the only one a year younger than her friends and brother, all who are going to start college in the fall. Everything started out normal for them all until Blair and her friends discover crop circles in their hometown. Blair is a young girl who lost two people in her family and is struggling with their loss. But her strength starts to show its face once the discovery of this creature is discovered and a friend becomes in danger.

As for the secondary characters my only issue was I couldn’t really connect with any. Even Blair was a bit tough for me to care about, until it got father into the story. In the end Everett won me over with his bug fanatic nerdy self and how much of a mystery he becomes later on. The ending with Everett was a huge bonus for me and now I really want to know how he’s going to grow.

Overall the story panned out to be really interesting, the ending had a big twist and I just wished the beginning had hooked me faster. The science fiction bit were such a breath of fresh air with the alien aspect. The romance was there but minimal and nicely touched on as a hint for future books. I look forward to seeing what happens next and as a science fiction fan I would say you should give this one a try.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a young adult novel that has a science fiction twist, was refreshing and fun. Fans of young adult writers Angeline Kace off Descended by Blood and P.T. Michelle of Brightest Kind of Darkness with enjoy Belle Whittington’s novel Cicada.

{Review} of Alien Proliferation by Gini Koch

Alien Proliferation (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #4)Alien Proliferation by Gini Koch
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

GENRE: Science Fiction Fantasy/Romance
THEME: Alien, Action/Suspense
RECEIVED:  Bought
AUTHORS BLOG: Gini Kochs' Site

BLURB:
Alien Super-Being Exterminator Kitty Katt is expecting her first baby. But the alien attacks are getting more dangerous, and now Kitty and her Alpha Centaurion husband, Jeff, have to find out who's behind the conspiracy to kill Kitty's secret agent mom and what caused Kitty's transformation into a superhuman-and they've got to do it all before the baby shower...
REVIEW:
Gini Koch does it again; her Katherine “Kitty” Katt series is filled with so much action, unbelievably fantastic characters, action that will keep you on your toes and romance that always makes a girl need to fan herself. This is my favorite science fiction book and boy was I excited that this was a long book, so get ready for Kitty kicking some major butt and making you laugh with her one liners.

Alien Proliferation starts off where the previous book leaves off, Kitty is pregnant and she has to deal with not only her emotions but also the effect it has on her very powerful bundle that she has inside her.  But in the midst of giving birth many dangers start to pop up, including her best friend from college needed some rescuing, her mother being threatened and of course keeping her new baby safe, along with her new husband calm. It’s all in a days work for Kitty and her life has become a lot more interesting.

Kitty is fantastic as always with her smart wit humor and how she always seems to know what to say at the right moment. How the new Mrs. Martini deals with being a mom is wonderful she loves her little one and all the craziness it comes with. Jeff as a new husband and father is all over the place, usually you would think he would be calmer but he constantly needs to be calmed down and kept from strangling Kitty best guy friend Chuckie.

There were so many great scene and some pretty emotional ones that had me scared for a bit. But I loved every minute of this novel. For all those Christopher fans like me, you’ll be happy this time around for him.  He meets a girl that he wants to protect and I look forward to some fun moments with the new couple.

Overall this was another great chapter in the crazy world where aliens exists and look like GQ models. I can’t get enough of the fun characters, insane action and how Koch adds humor in the best of moments. If you enjoyed the res of this series this one wont let you down and if you new to the series, go get the first three a.s.a.p! If only there was a perfect alien hottie for me out there like Martini or Christopher I’d be one happy camper.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is an Adult Novel with Sexual Content, love of kick butt action, Humor and much much more! Fans of Molly Harper and Jennifer Estep would love this series.

{Review} Demon Possession by Kiersten Fay

Demon Possession by Kiersten Fay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

GENRE: Science Fiction Fantasy/Romance
THEME: Alien/Demon
RECEIVED: From Author
AUTHOR: Kiersten Fay Site
PURCHASE: Amazon

BLURB: After being enslaved on the spaceship Extarga for most of her life Analia has no memory of her life before, and has lost all knowledge of her people. Her mysterious gift and pointed ears are the only indication that she is different.
Analia is alone, and for all she knows, shes the last of her kind. By chance Analia escapes her captors, and hides herself on the merchant ship Marada, planning to get off at the very next stop.
Unfortunately for her there is no next stop, the crew is planning a delivery that could take months and, according to a stipulation in the newly signed contract, no one is allowed on or off the ship until the package is delivered.
When Analia is found by a handsome demon, and captain of the Marada, she must adapt to her new role on the ship, and try to control her newly awakened desire for the brutal, and devastatingly erotic demon.
REVIEW:
I haven’t read a good science fiction fantasy with some awesome steamy romance in a long time; Demon Possession was a great debut for author Kiersten Fay.

The story starts of with a bang, the lead female character Analia is trapped on a ship that she calls The Hell Ship. And she is right, used and enslaved on the ship by its horrible captain Analia will do anything to get away.  Luckily a merchant ship comes in and become her only way out of the hell.

This ship is far different than the one she has lived on most of her life. The crew is cheerful and the captain…oh the captain is down right sexy. Sebastian is from a demon race where the males have horns and females have tales. He is every bit a good captain but his temper is always up and down and even more so with the sudden appearance of Analia.

The characters are so entertaining a really well written, each with such different personalities that everyone will connect with them. There is humor, action, and different alien species and of course some really hot romance.

The captain not only has his crew but his brother and sister along for the ride as well. Sonya and Cale are key characters to the first book and I know will be even more in the second. Sonya is spunky and tough as nails, where Cale can take down anyone with just a look.  Loved these too.

The romance…Oh wow. Can I just say the scenes between Analia and Sebastian were not only steamy,  they made you blush, smile and wish you were in Analia shoes. Sebastian is smoking and Analia is a whole bundle of desire for him. I liked the chemistry and bickering, got to have a bit of drama between the two leads.

Overall this was a great book, defiantly will recommend this to anyone who loves paranormal romance, romance, and science fiction fantasy. Kiersten Fay is an author that everyone should be watching out for and getting her book.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is an adult novel with lots of sexual content that is for mature readers. If you’re a fan of Ann Aguirre Sirantha Jax series or Larissa Iones’ Demonica series, you will love this!

{Review} Alien in the Family by Gini Koch

Alien in the Family by Gini Koch

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

GENRE: Fantasy, Romance
THEME: Aliens
RECEIVED: Purchased
AUTHOR: Website

Synopsis :
Super-Being Exterminator Kitty Katt and the Alpha Centaurian she loves, Jeff Martini, should be finalizing their wedding plans. But that was before she discovers Jeff is in line to become Emperor back on his home world. Kitty knows she is everything a royal family wouldn't approve of, and is bracing herself for the worst. As it turns out, the royal family is just the beginning. Especially when extraterrestrial Amazonian terrorists are determined to start and end Kitty and Jeff's nuptial festivities with a bang.

REVIEW:

Can I just say I wish Alien’s existed and lived on our planet, well ones that are tall, gorgeous, and are gods in bed… and named Martini.

The third book in Gini Koch’s, Kitty Katt Series is better than ever. I absolutely love this series. Not only does it have humor, men who looks like models, and action scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat, but also the plot and characters are just so darn entertaining that you never want the story to end.

{SPOLIERS} Don’t read unless you read 1 & 2

Kitty and her crew of Aliens and CIA buddies are back in action and this time they are not threaten by anything fugly, but a whole new bundle of aliens from all over the universe. Kitty and Martini are getting married, well trying to get married but the planning keeps getting held up by threats after threats and now unexpected visitors from the AC planet is heading to earth.

They discover that Kitty is about to be tested to see if she is worthy to marry Jeff (Martini), his bloodline is royalty. After more unexpected guest attack members of the team, Kitty realizes that getting married to an Alien is a whole mission in itself and that it her future with the man she loves is being majorly threatened.

So many new Alien species are introduced in this story, which was so exciting and Koch didn’t disappoint in making each character so different and absolutely entertaining. Try to picture lizards, cat, and dogs on human bodies; yep it’s that awesome.

I can also never get enough of Kitty’s interaction with her best friend Chuckie and how much Martini hates her friendship and love for him. Martini makes jealousy so hot that I have to smile each time. Plus I wish I had a bff like James. He got a larger role in this book; he has risen to the top of my ultimate favorite characters. Who wouldn’t want a friend like him, with James being gay and flirting with Kitty it makes for some awesome jealous scene with Jeff and some giggle moments for me.

So much happened in this book I don’t want to really give anything away because everything was such a surprise and the OMG moments were just oh my gosh! Everyone whose everyone is in this book and Gini does a fantastic job with putting everyone together without it getting to overwhelming.

Can I also just add (if you have read this book) I really and I mean really want a Poof! I’ve been trying to think of a name that I would name my little fuzzy alien ball. (Maybe Panda? I love Pandas lol) But I loved these new little alien characters, they were such great additions to the story and how awesome it was that each of the main characters have their own.

Highly recommend this series and book! If you haven’t read this series yet, there is something not right with that… Go and get a copy now!

RECOMMENDATION:

This is an Adult Novel with Sexual Content, love of kick butt action, Humor and much much more! Fans of Molly Harper and Jennifer Estep would love this series.

GIVEAWAY & INTERVIEW with author Tamara Mousner

I had the absolute pleasure of being asked to read and review Being, by T.R. Mousner. A wonderful young adult Science Fiction Fantasy eBook with memorable characters and a thrilling and adventurous story. I asked her some question about Being and her journey on writing this alien series.

Please don't forget to read my review of this very original and creative story and sign up for a chance to WIN a copy of Being! Tamara was kind enough to giveaway a eBook for the SCIFI lovers here to enjoy. You can find all this after the interview (:

Seeing Night - Can you tell us a little bit about Being in your own words?

TRM - Being, on the surface, is about an extraterrestrial marooned in a trailer park in Lancaster, California, after her ship collides with space trash orbiting Earth. It’s also about much more, though. It’s about human behavior and our destructive relationships with Earth and one another. It explores the meaning of family, friendship, overcoming prejudice and oneself, especially when all hope seems lost. It’s very much a love story, both in the familial sense as well as the romantic sense.

SNR - What got you interested in writing a young adult story about aliens?

TRM - Many things. First, my parents met and fell in love while working at NASA, so I’ve always had a fondness for space and all things space-related, as well as a fascination with the possibility of life on other planets. But I didn’t want to write a story about invaders because that’s been done countless times. Rather, what appealed to me was writing about advanced, benevolent beings that wouldn’t waste their time with us unless we were a threat to their existence. Also, the idea came in the form of an A-HA moment and I had to explore it further. Lastly, I had been searching for a vehicle that would allow me to hold up a mirror to our society and I believed this was it.

SNR - What inspired you with your creative character names such as: EBN-Reyoz-x and Aix?

TRM - Feedback from friends, other writers and my novelist mentors who thought the original character names read and sounded too Anglo or human.

SNR - Also speaking of creative names I really liked the name Sents for humans, what made you want to call them something different?

TRM - Writing this sort of story is really tricky, because it can’t be written in a non-human language (well it could, but what’s the point if humans can’t read it?) So, I had to invent alien-slang for certain words because extraterrestrials wouldn’t have the same names for things that we have. Sents is an ironic and derogatory term, because with the exception of a few characters (Aix, Xtarr and Nyl) my extraterrestrial beings think humans lack sense based on how we’re destroying Earth. Theres also some word play going on, as cents are the lowest denomination of American currency and thus, worth next to nothing, which is how they view us.

SNR - What was one of your favorite parts about writing this story?

TRM - You want just one? Writing Being allowed me to spend most every day (for years) within the confines of my own imagination, and I tend to be happiest there.

· SNR - Who are some of your favorite characters in Young Adult literature, besides your own of course?

TRM - Harry Potter, Hermoine Granger and Ronald Weasley, of course

SNR - eBooks are all the hype these days, what made you decide on an eBook?

TRM - It’s a long story. At first, I intended to go with traditional publishing because I hold some credentials: a B.A. in Creative Writing, I’ve studied with award-winning novelists and have had articles published (the most recent of which was picked up by The Times of India.) Now, before I launch into this saga, it’s important to note that the Being you’ve read and reviewed is not the original story. The original manuscript contains a male protagonist and is more of a sci-fi buddy story.

  • I submitted the original manuscript to three agents and received rejections. No biggie, that’s par for the course. However, last summer, I attended a writer’s conference and met with an experienced, established editor from New York. After having reviewed the first ten pages of my original manuscript, she said my idea wasn’t marketable based on current publishing trends. As you can imagine, I was heartbroken, but determined not to give up because I’d invested three years of my life into this work. So I asked what she recommended. She suggested that I change certain elements of the story, namely, make my protagonist a female and include a love interest so it could be considered a paranormal romance. At this point, I had already re-written my original manuscript three times from start to finish (in addition to taking each chapter through multiple edits.) The idea of another major rewrite didn’t appeal to me but I decided to think about it.
  • In October, I learned I required back surgery and would be out of work for at least two months. Since I doubted I would ever get that much time off work again, I decided to give another re-write a try. I re-wrote the first few chapters, liked what I read, decided to continue and completed the rough draft within the first few weeks of physical therapy. Then as I was editing the final draft of what would become the published version of Being, I started seeing trailers for this feature film entitled, PAUL, an alien buddy movie.
  • Now, I’ve been doing this long enough to know it can take up to a year to get the right agent and up to another year for said agent to find the right editor. As far as I was concerned, I didn’t have the luxury of time on my side. About this same time, I began hearing about a young woman named Amanda Hocking and her success as an indie author. After much research, I decided to take a chance, self-published and started praying that I hadn’t made the single worst mistake of my writing career.

SNR - If you could be any one of your characters which one would you be and why?

TMR - I’m not sure I would choose to be any of them, no offense to my characters. But if I had to choose one, I would like to be Xtarr, because she’s royalty and has staff to attend to all her needs, lol.

SNR - Are you working on any other projects that you can tell us about or maybe the second to Being?

TMR - Being’s sequel, Just Being, is in the works.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

EBN is a guardian of the sky for her planet, on a mission something goes wrong and she crashes in Erox aka Earth. Very injured and lost in a place called Lancaster California, as said on her navigation map EBN must find a safe area while waiting for rescue. Finding a safe house in a trailer park she can’t blend in with humans, she doesn’t have enough supplies and she starts connecting with a young mute boy who lives near by. When rescue never comes and her injuries worsen, plus her touch seems told hold a healing ability, she must find away to get home and evade the Military at all cost.

REVIEW:

EBN is a young Guardian of the sky being only six hundred Scyros cycles old, she has to learn about earth and hope that her grandfather will send someone to help her. What was interesting was how the story was written, it goes from EBN’s POV, to her brother Aix that is still on their planet, and to Shane the young human she becomes friends with. Also can I just mention EBN is seven feet tall! Luckily she has a suit that goes over her skin to make her look human…well almost human.

The story really focus’s on the brother sister relationships a lot, which I really enjoyed. Aix is really worried about his missing sister EBN and we follow him on his journey to figure out what has happen to her. While on earth the close relationship of Shane and his sister is amazingly written, they help each other survive without parents. There is a mystery behind their father, but I don’t want to give too much away. It’s really an emotional journey for the reader, really hoping that these kids can get through all the hardships.

I really enjoyed trying to figure out why EBN crashed on earth, why know one was coming for her and how much her family had something to do with it. Her grandfather is in charge of her missions and she tries desperately to communicate with him through out the book. While on her planet her bother Aix tries to figure out why his grandfather is acting weird and his parents don’t seem to care their daughters missing. It really keeps you on your toes as you try and unfold the mystery.

The ending leaves you with some unanswered questions, which aren’t frustrating but it really makes you hope the second comeS out soon. I want to find out what happens with EBN, Shane and Aix. There is a lot going on at EBN’s planet and she is the only one who can figure it out. Being was a fantastic science fiction read for young adults and adult who love anything with a bit of romance, action, and adventure with aliens.

RECOMMENDATION:

This is a young adult series for all ages and may have some alien words you’ll have to try and understand. But it’s a fun ride! Recommended for fans of Pittacus Lore’s I Am Number Four and James Patterson’s Maximum Ride series.
