BLURB:

Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only fifteen when her parents betrothed her to Luca – The Vice – Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families.

Now at eighteen, the day Aria has been dreading for years is looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca.

Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname ‘the Vice’ for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands. Luca might be one of the most sought after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does: that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile.

In her world a handsome exterior often hides the monster within; a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you.

The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again.

Despite her fear, she decides to go through with the marriage; Aria has grown up among predators like Luca and knows that even most cold-hearted bastards have a heart and she has every intention of working her way into Luca’s.

REVIEW:

I love the mafia stories right now, I heard a lot of great things about Born in blood Mafia Chronicles, making it my next series to start. This wasn’t as dark as the previous series I read but the men are just as stone cold and tough, but of course gain a soft spot for the lead female.

Bound by Honor follows Aria, she is the daughter of to a high ranking member of the Chicago mob family. When she was only fifteen she was chosen to marry the son of the head of the New York family to bring together two powers. Now the day has come, turning eighteen Aria has been trust into a life with a man whom she fears and into a life which is even more dangerous now that her husband has a target on his back. Luca “the Vice” is feared and can kill easily but now has a fragile wife to protect as well. The two must learn to get along or they both might be placed on the hit list.

Aria is still pretty much a child when she marries Luca, she has seen the monster he can be and wants nothing to do with him. But her father, will hear nothing of it, she has to be with Luca to bring a truce within the families. Aria gets to see a different side to Luca, he starts to become protective, obsessive and angry when it comes to her. But she also sees that maybe she could love this man, as she witnesses the relationships of others who are much more worse off. I enjoyed her connection with her sisters and brother; they truly love and protect each other.

Luca definitely comes off as tall dark and deadly, but as the readers get to know him, the soft side of him comes out. He has a lot of reasonability and luckily has the backing of his brother, who is sometimes a real pain. But there is always a problem of backstabbers in the mob and he has to keep an eye out for traitors. What I didn’t like about him, is at the beginning he cheats on her, yes there is a reason, yes he feels he should get his way, but its still a jerk move. Aria wasn’t the one who decided on the marriage but she should still get the respect of being his wife.

Overall I enjoyed this series, the romance starts of a major hate but build into an interesting and trusting relationship. There are of course massive bumps in the road, family issues, and crazy exs but that was made this a juicy and steamy read.
