Her story began long before she started working at The Sky Launch...
Screw fairytales. The only reward Gwen Anders got from her rough childhood was a thick skin and hard heart. She’s content with her daily grind managing a top NYC nightclub—Eighty-Eighth Floor. So hers isn’t a happily ever after. She doesn’t believe in those anyway.
Then she meets J.C.
The rich, smooth talking playboy is the sexiest thing that Gwen has ever encountered, but she’s not interested in a night-in-shining latex. But when a family tragedy pushes her to the brink, it’s J.C. who’s there to teach her a new method of survival, one based on following primal urges and desires. His no-strings-attached lessons require her to abandon her constant need for control. Her carefully built walls are obliterated.
Gwen discovers there’s a beautiful world outside her prison. Freedom is exhilarating—and terrifying. When she starts to feel something for J.C., she fears for her heart. Especially as she realizes that he has secrets of his own. Secrets that don't want to set him free.
BOOK ONE OF TWO. This series can be read alone or with the Fixed Trilogy.

REVIEW:
It’s been so long since I read The Fixed Series and I loved everything about Hudson and Alayna, so I knew Paige would create some awesome chemistry with Gwen and her guy JC. I also loved that we get some connection between the two series with Hudson being Norma’s boss and later on Alayna coming in. But if you haven’t read The Fixed series, you wont feel lost starting with Free Me since it can be a stand-alone.Free Me follows Gwen, a very serious and unsociable nightclub manager. With a tough upbringing she is very closed off, unless it’s with her sister Norma and her younger brother Ben. When she agrees to cover a shift for her co-worker she expects it to be like any normal night. But Gwen has never worked on a Tuesday, the Viper room is booked that night by a man that spark anger but also lust. J.C. is determined and complicated. He’s sees Gwen as a challenge and feels he can help her with her cold demeanor. But what neither of them expects is their committed friends with benefit type relationship, might become something more.
Gwen is a tough cookie to connect too when she is first introduced; she obviously loves her family but doesn’t know when to back off getting involved. Her work is her domain but she doesn’t socialize nor have any friends. Then she meets J.C. a man who is blunt, sensual, and offers to bring out a side of Gwen she doesn’t show anyone. Their meeting carried so much tension; I love how much J.C. shocked her with his attitude and playfulness. Gwen usually has a “stick up her butt” but she just couldn’t bring out the manager in her to stop his unusual party in the Viper room. Gwen has a lot of growth, J.C. opens her up and actually gets her to smiles, she starts to appreciate and understand her brother and sister, where she becomes more patient with them. I liked her change from just connecting and being with J.C. Plus their romance is epic and seriously hot!
J.C. oh boy… he’s a tough one to understand since the readers along with Gwen don’t really know much about him. He’s damaged, complex and finds something about Gwen that just rubs him in all the right ways. He finds peace with Gwen, they do bicker, but they also listen, laugh and love like crazy in the time they are together. He becomes very protective of her too, but still cant open up to her. I really wanted to know what was going on with him, in the end I was super shocked and I have no idea what’s going to happen from here on out.
Overall this was such a thrill to read, very emotional, sexy and I now feel I may cry unless I have the second book asap! As I said before, I love all the tie ins from the previous trilogy but I loved the secondary characters Norma, Gwen’s sister and Matt Gwen’s boss and someone close to J.C. There is still so many questions unanswered and the ending is a slight cliffhanger. I cant wait to see where Paige takes this couple next!
About Laurelin: Laurelin Paige is the NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Fixed Trilogy. She's a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there's kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn't seem to complain, however. When she isn't reading or writing sexy stories, she's probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine.
