Spring break is supposed to be a week of fun in the sun for three childhood friends about to graduate from college. But one of them is ready to get her game on somewhere else…

Charlie Castle is an expert archer and a fierce warrior—in her favorite video game, anyway. But college life was a program she couldn't quite master. To land a cybertech job without a degree, she's entering a "hackfest" over spring break—where she also hopes to meet the sweet gamer who's been flirting with her online. Instead, she runs into the hot guy who walked away years ago, and can't fight the desire that comes rushing back.

Jonah Best has never gotten over Charlie, whose kisses were always as deliciously creative as her coding. But now that they're face to face again, he doesn't know how to admit that her online admirer is really him—or how to convince her that he's offering her a job for her incredible skills, not her sex appeal. Can Jonah cut through their communication glitches and persuade Charlie that the next level up for them should be forever?

REVIEW:

Second installment to the Hot & Nerdy series, Schroeder brings her readers into the world of online gaming. For those who are familiar with WOW, Call of Duty, and such, this will be a fun one for you too read. I’m a huge comic nerd and I play video games with my husband so I was uber excited to start this book.

Her Perfect Game follows Charlie Castle whose talents lie within the tech world. She is a master hacker and online game enthusiast, while college didn’t seem like the right fit, programing and hacking is where she hopes to find a career one day in. She loves one game in particular where she befriends a player name Win. She enters the “Hackfast” which is for people with those talents to show companies how to improve their game experience and keep out the “hackers. Charlie however runs into her ex Jonah at the con, where their relationship awakens and her heart must decide on Jonas or her online crush Win.

Charlie is a genius, well… in my opinion. Anyone that can hack and has the talent to understand coding is extremely talented. She has a nerdy personality but is also fierce and passionate when it comes to tech, gaming and romance. I love the idea of how an online game reunited two past lovers, how Charlie must decide on trusting Jonah or if she would rather live in the online world and escape the past.

Jonah is just like Charlie and knew when he was with her that she was special. But something bad happened and felt he needed to let her go. Which in the end he never did. Since he helps maintain the very game Charlie loves. Jonah works for a company that helps host the “Hackfest” thus meeting the one girl he could never forget. Second chances are definitely romantic in this story sense.

Overall this was a cute quick read with lots to love for someone like me who loves conventions. I felt I was reading about comic con while Charlie and Jonah walked around the convention, it was awesome. My only issues were wishing the story was a bit longer; I wanted to know more about the Hackfest and whish Charlie hadn’t given up so easily. Lastly I wish the ending wasn’t so quick, that there were more challenges or discussions that happened to work out the issues that happened between the two leads. I do also feel that this can be read as a stand alone, but I also felt like I was missing something not reading the first book. The romance was hot and heavy, and I could really feel their chemistry. In the end this was such a fun read, I love nerdy anything and I just fell for these two and the quest for online love.

About the Author
Shannyn is a former English teacher, who now works as a part-time editor while raising her three kids.

Even though she wrote from high school through college (mostly poetry), she’d never considered a career as an author. Writing fell by the wayside as she focused her energy on creating lesson plans and new and fabulous ways to torment her teen students. One group in particular dubbed her “The Torture Master,” a title she carried into motherhood.

After the birth of baby number two, Shannyn resigned from teaching and fell in love with reading romance novels. She read so many books so quickly that her husband teased, “If you’re going to read so many damn books, why don’t you just write one?”

So she did.
