REVIEW:
I’m a newbie to Kings writing as well as her Woodfalls Girls series, but she has definitely won me over with Misunderstandings. This was wonderfully written, going from past to present, leading up to the two leads being stuck in an elevator and having to deal with their misunderstandings. It’s been two year since Brittni and Justin’s terrible break-up that broke both of their hearts. While on a trip to Seattle for her best friends engagement party, Brittni is dealt with being stuck in the elevator to the one man who broke her heart. Justin was the love of her life; they had a passionate an exciting relationship that blew up in both of their faces. But it was all a misunderstanding and the longer they are stuck in the elevator the more they reveal about what really happened two years ago.
When the readers are introduced to Brittni, they meet a young woman who is hoping to get a full time position as a teacher in her small town. She is visiting her best friend in Seattle when she is locked in an elevator with known other than her ex Justin. I had no idea how this would pan out; there was definitely a lot of tension and hatred when Justin and Brittni come face to face with each other again. I liked comparing her from her past self in the flashbacks, she had so much spunk and fire, but you can see how hurt and damaged she was after everything that happened with Justin. Once I found out what happened I can see why she didn’t say anything, and for me, I probably wouldn’t of said anything either. I felt so bad for her and seriously would of punched Justin.
Justin is introduced as a playboy / bad boy, from Brinttni’s point of view, but the readers soon learn about his softer side. He has a passion for art and so much love for his family. He brings Brittni into his life and he starts to fall for her quickly. But when she becomes closed off and he gets confused, his decisions are rash and not well thought out. It was interesting to see his reaction after all the time had past and I can see why he was hurt, but seriously wished he would of thought things through.
Overall this was such a thrill, the storyline may have been sad to read because I knew there was a reason for them to have so much dislike for one and another. The best part was jumping back and forth between the past and present, I would of thought I wasn’t going to like it, but it was the best way to see the love and fall of these two broken hearted people. The romance was so sweet, passionate and the sense of humor was a wonderful addition to these two destined lovers. The secondary characters helped along the plot, but to me, I only focused on Brittni and Justin.
I cannot wait to read more from King and will absolutely be reading the first in this series. I didn’t feel lost at all for not reading the first book and look forward to continuing this series in the third book as well.
RECOMMENDATION:
This is a new adult romance story with some mature content. Fans of the Sea Breeze series by Abbi Glines and Wait for You by J. Lynn will love, Misunderstandings by Tiffany King.View all my reviews
It's been a while since I read a book where the author flipped back and forth between past & present. I'm a fan of that format, so thanks for bringing Misunderstandings to my attention!
