Welcome! I’m interviewing Alyssa and Teague, the
heroine and hero of FEVER just two weeks before their story is released.
Joan: Good to see you two again – glad we’ve gotten some time apart. I just about killed you off a dozen (or two) times.
Alyssa: “He was the problem.”
Teague: Snorts. Grins at Alyssa. “Pain. In. The. Ass. Sound familiar?”
Joan: “Your hair’s grown, Teague. Do you like it, Alyssa?”
Alyssa: One side of her mouth lifts in sexy smile. “More to fist in my hands.”
Joan: “Of course. So...Teague, what was your favorite part of the book?”
Teague: “The sex. You write good sex.”
Alyssa: “Hey. I think I had something to do with it.”
Teague: Reaches over and slides a hand over Alyssa’s hair. “Everything to do with it, sugar.”
Joan: Clears throat. “Aside from the sex.”
Teague: Eyes lift toward ceiling in thought. “Probably when I considered leaving her to the wolves.”
Alyssa: Fist to Teague’s bicep.
Teague: Doesn’t even flinch. Laughs. “I did love the handcuffs.”
Alyssa: “Evident in how long you kept them on me.”
Joan: “What about you, Alyssa? Your favorite part of the book—aside from the sex.”
Teague: Whispers, “When you first set eyes on me.”
Alyssa: Snort. Turns a hot grin on Teague. “When I dropped eight condoms on your chest.”
Teague: “Oh. Yeah. You’re right. That was way better.”
Alyssa: “Or was it the wine closet?”
Teague: Low, throaty laugh. “Hard choice.”
Alyssa: “Yes. Yes it was.”
Joan: Another clearing of throat. “Teague, your least favorite part of the book?”
Teague: His smile slowly slides away. His fingers thread into Alyssa’s dark hair. “When I saw that wall of fire fall on top of her. That was just cruel, Joan. I mean, aside from the awesome sex, you were vicious throughout the book, but that was…just downright brutal.”
Joan: “Thank you. I try. And Alyssa?”
Alyssa: Thoughtful look. “The fiery wall wasn’t much fun. But the worst part was waking up and finding Teague gone.” She shot Teague a glare. “Coward. And, oh, God. Mitch, my brother, rescuing me only to find condom wrappers on the floor. I’ll never here the end of that. Ever.”
Teague: Easy, one shouldered shrug. “If you hadn’t fried every brain cell I owned I would have remembered to pick them up before I bolted.”
Joan: “For the record, that wasn’t my idea, it was Elisabeth’s. You remember, my critique partner who gave Mitch his identity in the first place.”
Teague and Alyssa share a look.
Alyssa: “That explains it.”
Joan: “Okay, so can we talk about something that doesn’t relate to sex?”
Alyssa and Teague simultaneously: “Why?”
Joan: “Never mind. I think we’re done here.”
Joan: Good to see you two again – glad we’ve gotten some time apart. I just about killed you off a dozen (or two) times.

I love character interviews and you can see their personalities come through. Joan, which of Alussa and Teague's traits would their baby definitely have? Which top two would you give the baby? :)

ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteI’ve been a sonographer for twenty years and at one of the hospitals where I worked I spent half my day surrounded by guards and inmates.
The more I understand their routines and procedures, the more clearly I recognized how easily something could go wrong.
I must have been left in a dangerous situation once too many times and come up with one too many “What if…?”
:)
Booklover,
ReplyDeleteThey are so much fun to write. This was my first and I thought it would be so hard, but it wasn't at all, it was like sitting down with friends.
LOL, Lisa, you are indeed, excused!! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover and the plot sounds really unique!
