Q. What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it?
1} Ehhh Love Triangles are definitely my biggest pet peeve, I just don't like them. Though I do have say I still read and love the novels I read that have them but it's so frustrating. What makes it the hardest is if you feel the lead female character should be with both of them, which of course doesn't happen, it's a bummer in the end when one guy doesn't get the girl. Another is that it's way over done nowadays, since Twilight.
2} Whiny lead female character... I have had many of the years that I've read. I like my strong kick butt girls that aren't perfect. But when they whine like a child and can't decide on thing or even as mention above can't choose a guy, it gets old. Thankfully they usually grow out of it which makes me want to continue reading.
hahaha! I just wrote a post about love triangles...

Hopping through. I like a mixture of insecure and kick-butt. I don't want the girl to be too weak, but I also don't know many super-confident, strong teenage girls - without a few insecurities.

Every time I read a book with a love triangle, I end up wanting the girl to tell both guys they'll have to deal with her dating both of them. :)
ReplyDeleteI hate whimpy girls, too.
I have to agree with Alison - I don't want my characters too weak, but I don't want them too strong either. They should be a mix of both.
ReplyDeleteA character that can't make her or his mind annoys me too...especially when it comes to long, drawn out triangles.
Love triangles seems like the answer of the day. Although I do admit that they are overdone and still think that they have a place in fiction.

Hopping through. I so agree with #2, although I wouldn't mind to read a book in which the lead character starts a bit whiny and dependent, but grows up throughout the novel. At least there's development. But if she stays whiny and weak in the whole freaking book, I end up hating it. :-\
