BLURB:
Ashlyn McVean doesn't believe in fairy tales. That is, until Ashlyn is thrown into the crosshairs of grudges her grandmother created long ago. After finding out she is one of two people able to cross between faerie realms, Ashlyn is faced with trying to understand her abilities, along with navigating a new relationship with her boyfriend, Liam. As if being on a centuries old hit list and dealing with crazed pixies isn't enough, her new abilities mean trouble for Liam. Knowing her new life puts everyone she loves in danger, Ashlyn must decide what's most important in her life between friends, family, love, and ultimately, realms.

REVIEW:
I was happy to be asked to be apart of the tour for Bridger. Bridger by Megan Curd is an intense new young adult series that leaves you on the edge of your seat with every turn of the page. Curd really kept me guessing; I never knew what twists she was going to throw out.

Ashlyn has just lost one of the most important people to her, only nights before Christmas. Soon after Ashlyn starts to show unusual signs that something is different about her, her grandmother sends her to her family’s home of Ireland.  Where she learns more about her heritage than she could ever imagine, connecting to a world of fae she never new existed. With the help of her new friend Liam, who becomes her most trusted ally along her grandmother with all too many secrets. She is soon confronted with fighting against powerful creatures and keeping her family safe.

Ashyln was a complex character that has to go through a tough time dealing with a death in her family. I did however feel she recovered a little too quickly, as for me it would be very difficult. But what I did enjoy was her relationship with her grandmother, they had a rocky start but I can see the potential strength and bond gaining more and more in the future.  Megan Curd did something that I felt was pretty different than other authors, she continuously kept me guessing on characters and always surprised me.

MeMaw, grandmother and tough as nails, was a fantastic character and my favorite. She really knew how to keep Ashlyn on the right path and could definitely take care of herself. I don’t want to spoil much more on her, but I really enjoyed her spunk and get down to business attitude.

Liam, is the son of MeMaw’s friend and someone whom Ashyln connects with when she visits Ireland. He is a typical guy with an interesting family secret. He also makes some good and bad decisions along the way. He is definitely challenged by Ashlyns long time friends Reese; I loved the tension between these two boys.

Overall this was an exciting fast paced YA novel, with romance and magic that everyone will love.  I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and highly recommend Bridger.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a young adult novel that fans of Angeline Kace author of Descended by Blood and P.T. Michelle author of Brightest Kind of Darkness will love.
