Life hasn’t been easy on sixteen-year-old Emma Conner, so a new
start in New York may be just the change she needs. But the posh Upper East Side prep school she has to attend? Not so much. Friendly faces are few and far between, except for one that she’s irresistibly drawn to—Brendan Salinger, the guy with the rock-star good looks and the richest kid in school, who might just be her very own white knight.
But even when Brendan inexplicably turns cold, Emma can’t stop staring. Ever since she laid eyes on him, strange things have been happening. Streetlamps go out wherever she walks, and Emma’s been having the oddest dreams. Visions of herself in past lives—visions that warn her to stay away from Brendan. Or else.

REVIEW:

Oh how much do I love when a cover catches my eye, as a designer I took one look at the cover for Spellbound and was immediately intrigued. I wasn’t sure about the category that it was in on Netgalley but the synopsis had me hooked when I read “Visions of herself in past lives—visions that warn her to stay away from Brendan. Or else.” I sat there going whoa…this is not just a regular teen fiction this has got something else going on. And boy was I right!

Emma has not had a glamorous life, starting new her new life in New York on the Upper East Side you would wouldn’t know she had it really rough. Taken in by her Aunt she starts at a new school, but life isn’t going to let her off the hook, it’s going to take her on one scary adventure.

Emma’s attraction to the dark a mysterious Brenden isn’t just because he extremely gorgeous, its almost as if there is some strange connection pulling them together. She makes some fun new friends who are really entertaining and some villains that I really just wanted to punch. It is definitely a book about the life of a high school student and the different clicks. But there something more that is destined for Emma; and Brenden is at the center of it.

Emma is a spunky girl; even though her life was tough she still can smile and crack a joke. She doesn’t let anyone put her down or hurt the people closest to her. Her relationship with her Aunt is really sweet and something I enjoyed and her cousin Ashley she was such a sweetheart. I enjoyed all the family interactions. Brenden was what you would call a knight a shinning armor as Shultz describes, but with a dark teenaged twist. He frustrated me in a good way at one point, made me smile at the next and want to hug him all through out. He was a great lead that had flaws of a normal teenager.

The romance…oh the romance how much I loved it! Can I just say I wish I could be Emma for a day. Where was that kind of romance when I was in high school? The moments between Brenden and Emma were priceless and had me sighing with the lovability that both of them left me with.

Overall anyone will love this book and I really mean that. Whatever genre you read it has it all, mystery, romance, fantasy, magic, and a story that will have you holding your breath till the end.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a Young Adult book for any age. There is romance, adventure, amazing villains and teenage life. I recommend this for anyone and everyone.
