BLURB:
Forty-six.
That’s how many hybrids survived the Hunter attack in the woods after I revived them with an injection of my blood. That’s how many followed me home to Frederick Falls. And that’s how many were now mentally linked to me through a blood bond.

Two days. Three valium. Fourteen hours of sleep.
That’s what it took to realize I wasn’t losing my mind as a result of the noise in my own head.

Sixteen.
That’s how many days have passed since I almost killed Alex. That’s how many days I’ve sat by his bedside, waiting for him to wake up. To ease the guilt, to understand his betrayal, to remember the exact shade of brown in his eyes.

Zero.
That’s my chances of skating by with Gordon Steppe and the Hunter Council. They want me for questioning. I’m afraid what’ll happen if I give them answers.

REVIEW:

The Dirty Blood series is one that has never let me down and I can definitely say this one kicked the suspense into high gear! Hildenbrand always knows how to write for her fans but also add that special something to shock and keep us coming back for more.

Blood Rule follows Tara once again in the middle of chaos and the danger is right around the corner. She is now the alpha of her hybrid pack and is connected emotionally to them all, just like her friend George. She is also waiting for the ultimate decision from CHAS to see if the treaty between her kind and the hunters will be broken. But as the pack gets restless and the news is looking grim, she must find a way to protect her friends and family from the one man who seeks to destroy her no matter what stands in his way.

Tara has always been a strong character; she is young and has a lot of responsibility on her shoulders. Now being the alpha of forty-six hybrids is starting to put a toll on her. I like that she is always there for everyone and wants to make the right decisions, but in the end she makes a lot of bad ones. In the end she is left with little choice when it comes to the safety of her pack and the human. It was sad at times to see so many people she cares about struggling and being in harms way.

My only issue was that I felt bad for her boyfriend Wes, as she always had Alex on her mind. Yes, he’s in a coma in the hospital but in this book it irritated me how harsh she was a times with Wes, which I don’t blame him for being a bit cautious about. It may be because I’ve never been a fan of love triangles, but I hope in the next book that this gets resolved quickly and that we can get back to the action packed kick butt Tara. We do get some answers with Alex regarding what happened in the last book. I was happy with how this turned out. Wes I felt was more of a secondary character who is there to just comfort Tara, but I have a feeling were going to see some kick butt Wes in the next book.

The hybrids are the main focus; Tara is worried that they may lose control and feels her connection is what is keeping them human. The evil Steppe from CHAS is just waiting for someone to drop the ball so he can jump in and make Tara and her friends suffer. I enjoyed the introduction of some new characters and that we get some piece of mind with Georges side of the story. George has been dealt with a lot and I feel he makes a good hybrid and a great friend for Tara to have. So much happens with the pack, but I don’t want to spoil anything.

Overall I’m always impressed with how Hildenbrand can suck me back into this world of werewolves so easily, it’s like I have never left. Her characters have grown up so much since the first book and have been given a lot of heartache to go along with it. But with the heartache they have become extremely strong and I’m rooting for them to take down Steppe and make him pay for all the pain he’s caused. The tone of this book is a bit sad at times, we do get the humor spark in there, but this is all suspense and defiantly has the holding your breath moments.

Lastly the ending is one heck of a cliffhanger! I didn’t want it to end there but alas we can’t spoil everything in one book! I absolutely can’t wait for the next book; Hildenbrand really knows how to keep us begging for more.

RECOMMENDATION:
