Ignited by Desni Dantone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

GENRE: Paranormal Romance
THEME: Mythology
RECEIVED: Author

BLURB:
Seventeen year old Kris Young is on the run from a throng of superhuman golden-eyed freaks hell-bent on seeing her dead, and she doesn't know why. Good thing she has her guardian angel to protect her...sort of.

Kris is aided by Nathan, the mysterious man that ends up being anything but angelic when he rescues her for the fourth time in fourteen years. Even if the handsome hero illusion is shattered by his harsh treatment of her, he knows how to fight this strange enemy and is determined to keep her safe at all costs.

As the body count rises in their wake, Nathan introduces Kris to a world in which not everyone is human and the battle lines between good and evil are clearly drawn. Kris's piece in the puzzle is something neither is aware of and, as they uncover the truth, neither is prepared for what they find. Overcoming twists and revelations that shatter both of their lives, they discover that nothing is as it seems and nothing, least of all their hearts, are safe.

From debut author, Desni Dantone, Ignited is the first novel in a tale of first love, mystery and adventure that will introduce you to an exciting new world as Kris discovers how she fits in it.

REVIEW:

I can’t really express how much I loved this new series without sounding like a squealing little schoolgirl, but I was totally surprised by how much I was hooked into this book. This paranormal romance has two characters that you will love and root for all the way to the end.

Ignited follows Kris Young, a teen that is trying to recover from a tragic accident where she was the only survivor. Once again her mysterious “guardian angel” Nathan, saved her from danger and adds to the many questions about who he is. Her life seems to be getting back to normal once the new boy in school befriends her, but he too is a big mystery. When her guardian Nathan steps in and fights off some scary strong people that are after her, she learns her life is anything but normal.

Kris is a girl who has seen and lived through a lot of tragedy and she’s always known that there was someone protecting her from harm, but never knew why. When she finds out she’s in the middle of a war between good and evil, the only one she trusts is Nathan, her savor. But he isn’t all she thought he’d be, Kris wants answers and she’ll fight for the truth. I loved how much spunk Kris has and of course doesn’t back down for anything. Her friendship with her best friend Callie adds some much needed humor to the darker bits of the story. Along with the flirtatious Alec and new boy in town, who is not all he pretends to be. Kris is a strong character that has a lot to learn about this new world and herself.

Nathan is a man of few words but very devoted to protecting Kris at all cost. Nathan is the one to keep her save, the banter and chemistry between these two is what made me love this story even more. She is bombarded with surprise after surprise the longer she and Nathan are together, they both discover that there are many secrets in their lives. I loved this guy, he did frustrate me at times with not telling Kris everything but I understood the reason. Every scene that they are in together is full of suspense, humor, banter, and adding questions to the bigger picture that is hidden from Kris.

Overall this is one heck of a great story, the plot is creatively constructed, giving away pieces at a time so that the readers discover the truth along with Kris. I was surprised on the paranormal aspect of the story, I for one thought this was about vampires but was thankfully was wrong. There is a lot of mythology intertwined with some great back story. It’s none stop action, mystery, romance, and shocking twist and turns, I never wanted it to end. I can’t wait to see where Kris and Nathan go next and what dangers they are going to have to fight to get answers.

RECOMMENDATION:

This is a young adult novel that will leave you wanting more. Fans of Jennifer Armentrout’s Lux series and Jennifer Estep’s Mythos Academy series will love Ignited by Desni Dantone.
