His destined mate…Certainly Jones has pushed it too far this time. Gnawing and clawing at his soul are the demons he unknowingly carried back from his quest into their land. Weak and exhausted, the dark witch gazes down the dim, cobbled street at his only hope—a lone vehicle with blazing headlights. Desperate, he makes a mad dash for the light, and the striking woman illuminated in its wake.

Vika senses him before she sees him. The good witch with emerald eyes and fiery red hair has never dabbled in dark magic. But one look at CJ turns her life upside down. Soon Vika is lured into his dangerous world…and his powerful arms. A few sultry kisses are not enough to save CJ from his demons—it's going to take some seriously potent sorcery. And they're running out of time.

REVIEW:
After finishing Malakai I couldn’t wait to jump into Michele Haufs latest novel in her This Witchery series. Even though I hadn’t read the first book I didn’t feel lost at all and was able to connect to the world and the very colorful characters with ease.

This Wicked Magic follows Certainly Jones (CJ) who is a dark witch that has just come back from Daemonia. Sadly for him he didn’t come back alone, demons have taken ahold of him and have made his live miserable whenever nightfall comes. But one night a demon inside him is attracted to a smell which brings him to the light of a white witch named Vika, who unknowingly is able to free him of one of his demons. Determined to get her help CJ pleads for her help, since nothing has been able to free him. Thus bringing together light and dark and two people who are so opposite but so right for each other.

Certainly Jones (by the way I love his name) was a jumbled and eccentric character. He is pretty much a mess, especially with all the demons taking up camp inside him and not being able to sleep with them taking over his body. I felt so bad for the guy; he just never knew when a demon would take over and what they would do once they did. Even though CJ is titled a Dark Witch, it doesn’t make him bad, he works for the good guys but just has made a really bad decision. My favorite tidbit about CJ was that he always gave Vika strange nicknames to express what he thinks about her, such as calling her the Mistress of Subtle Yet Insistent Distraction. I just thought it was hilarious how he always gave her some exaggerated title. I felt for a male character that he was extremely unique, in most romances they are strong burly and handsome, by CJ was almost nerdy and had so many flaws even though he was good looking. I loved that most about his character, it was great to get a different type of male lead.

Vika is exactly what some would picture a light witch, clean, perfection and beautiful. Meeting someone like CJ, who is a mess and not so very clean, she is a bit taken back with him when they first meet. Her job is cleaning up for the council, cleaning supernatural evidence so that they can control what happens to their kind. My only issue with Vika was that she called CJ, dark one alot, I know it was meant as a reference to his dark magic. But it sounded odd in the sentences that it was used in, making the scene sounds a little awkward. Both she and CJ are very powerful and learn a lot from each other with magic. I loved their chemistry and how CJ gives her a little push to go outside the box of who she normally is.

Overall I felt this story was a bundle of fun and the plot twist were engaging and kept me hooked into the characters. The readers do get introduced to some secondary characters, which will be the focus of the next book. One of which is Vika’s sister who is in love with an emotionless supernatural. I loved her introduction and how much she wants the attention of someone who doesn’t understand love. I highly recommend this to any and all paranormal romance fans that love a good mystery, romance and hilariously well-developed character who you’ll fall in love with.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is an adult book with some sexual content for a mature reader. Fans of Kim Harrisons Hollow series and Chloe Neills’ Chicagoland series will love This Witch Magic by Michele Hauf.
