BLURB:
Kendall Morgan is a human bloodhound. Spending her childhood hunting relics with her ambitious archeologist father, she knew the two of them shared a sixth sense for the history and location of objects—sometimes even people. What she didn’t know was that their paranormal gift could ultimately be their undoing.

After the tragic plane crash that killed her father as well as her childhood best friend, Kendall dedicated her life to finding and protecting relics. When mysterious, sexy billionaire Nathan Larraby hires her for his latest expedition—the search for four powerful relics —she’s thrown into a world of high-octane danger. He sends brooding mercenary Jake Stone to watch Kendall’s back, but he may have created danger of a different kind.

As the team chases down clues, a man called the Reaper makes a play for the artifacts and will stop at nothing to put them to his own sinister use. What’s worse is that Nathan hasn’t told the whole story, and the dark secrets he’s keeping could cost them the mission…and their lives.

REVIEW:
This being my second book by Anita Clenney and of course enjoying her Highlander series, I couldn’t wait to dig into her new series. This was definitely an adventure and for a fan of Indiana Jones, I loved the mystery, adventure and romance that were mixed in to finding a mysterious relic. This is one series I can’t wait to continue.

Guardians of Stone follows Kendall Morgan who has just been assigned to find a missing relic. As this is her specialty, she also has a special talent, she can sometimes sense the past of objects. Her mysterious employer, the very wealthy and smoking hot Nathan send her on this mission with a mercenary and down right bad boy, Jake Stone. Together they look for this ancient relic, a box that shouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. They also need to stay alive and it getting harder as they get closer to box and the mysteries behind it.

Kendall has a really interesting background, growing up with a father who had the same talent as her, it really made me want to learn more about her background. I’m hoping that Clenney digs more into Kendall’s past and what really happened to her father. She also has a huge problem with going with her gut feeling; it normally lands her into some trouble. Which makes for some entertaining bickering with her and Jake. They get stuck even sharing a room together multiple times, which I found to be some of my favorite scenes, these two are so much fun together.

Jake, the bad boy who pretty much does whatever he want and loves to irritate Kendall as much as possible. Their chemistry is fantastic and the love hate is all fun and games, as the reader I know that they feel that connection. But all in all this guy is a great protector and really want to keep Kendall safe and get the job done. He also has some history with their employer Nathan and the two act like two brothers competing for the prize when it comes to Kendall. If I had two choose between Nathan and Jake, I would pick Jake with no questions asked.

Nathan is a whole bundle of confusion. I couldn’t figure this guy out and Clenney left me with so many questions that I can’t wait to get answered. Something strange is happening to him, which Jake points out frequently, but Nathan is mum about it all and looks like he’s trying to find is own answers. He has a major soft spot for Kendall but keeps the professional act on every time he around her.

Overall, Guardians of Stone was a heck of an adventure; I loved the non stop mystery, action packed fight scenes, romance and of course memorable characters. The details in the historical background, Clenney creates for the plot and for her character was fantastic and really sucked me into the story. I’m hoping for some more romance in the next, book because the teasing was actually stating to get repetitive. Also I’m not a huge fan of love triangles, but the boys are so much fun that I can look past that. I can’t wait to see where Nathan sends Kendall and Jake to next and what mysteries are in store for them.
