{Armchair BEA} Topic: Beyond the Blog
Happy Thursday for ArmchairBEA! Today’s topic is “Beyond the Blog” Has blogging opened up opportunities for you beyond getting free, advance copies of new books? Has it helped you get offers to write or review elsewhere (maybe even for pay)? Have you gotten invites to special events or places you might not have been to otherwise?
For me blogging and reviewing are all about the love of reading and discovering new authors. I for one don't accept offers or use any affiliates to help pay for my site or books that I giveaway. Sometimes I do think about doing the affiliate program with amazon, which I did have but as of now it comes out of my pocket and I don't mind that. I work as a graphic designer as my full time job and my blog is my hobbies and something fun I do on the side.
I do write, but just for fun and for me to read. When I was younger I use to write a lot of fanfiction, but school and life came and I had to set that aside. I do love to read others fanfiction and still enjoy writing short stories on the side.
Outside the blog I feel I've made some great connections with authors, bloggers, readers, and publishers. All have been wonderful and people who have made me enjoy blogging that much more. I enjoy the community that has grown around me since I started blogging and cant wait to meet many more.

I agree with you here. Meeting and making connections with other bloggers, readers, and authors are perks.

I feel the same as you, blogging for me is about connecting with others who share my love of reading.

I am just starting out blogging and can already see how making connections is the perk of it!
ReplyDeleteI also pay for my giveaways and stuff out of pocket. Honestly, it's just easier and I just can't picture becoming an Amazon affiliate or something like that worthwhile unless I had hundreds of readers who remember to click the link, lol.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, Happy ABEA!
Thanks for sharing your story. I never expected to make any money with my blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy day 4
I do the Amazon program, but most of my giveaways are out of my own pocket. I haven't made that much money off of it, but I love using it for the link ups especially for sharing the free books.

Thank you for all the comments!!
ReplyDeleteSilverlight - totally agree I liked the amazon program because of the link ups those are worth it :)
I pay for the things on my blog too. I do it for different reasons than money as you say. Well said.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating!
