When homicide detective Alexandra Jarvis sees a photo of Seth Benjamin on a police bulletin, she knows that Heaven's plan to halt Armageddon has gone terribly wrong. As the only mortal who knows of Seth's true nature, only she can save him. Aramael was a hunter of Fallen Angels until a traitor forced him into earthly exile. Now, with no powers and only a faint memory of Alex, his mortal soulmate, he will stop at nothing to redeem himself-even if it means destroying Seth in the name of the Creator...
REVIEW:
Let me start off but saying wow! I can’t really emphasis my meaning anymore than that and since I’m still recovering from that intense ending I have to just say wow. Linda Poitevin really knows how to suck you into her novel by throwing in some major twist that I was not expecting. Sins of the Son is pretty much what this whole story is about and Poitevin put her female lead right smack in the middle of a possible war between heaven and hell.
Alexandra Jarvis is still recovering from what happened in the last book. Her soul mate and Angel Aramael is gone and she now knows she is half angel and half human. Alex almost died as well, but was saved in the end by the only one who is suppose to stop a war from happening, Seth. When she sees his photo on a police bulletin, she knows something’s wrong and rushes to see him. The problem is, he has no memory of anything before but knows that Alex is important to him. Then there is Aramael, who is given a task that will put him face to face with Alex again and he can’t let her get in the way of his redemption.
Alex has to put up with some intense stuff this time around, especially on the emotional aspect. Not only does she have to protect Seth from her soul mate but also her heart seems to be split in two for both men. But that’s not her only problem when women are popping up pregnant and having those children within weeks, meaning Lucifer might be involved. So she’s got a lot on her plate and dealing with lot of people who don’t know that the world is on the brink of a war. Despite what she has to deal with she handles all of this pretty well, plus she has to deal with another Detective and Psychiatrist who don’t understand what’s really happening.
What I found the most interesting was the scene with “The One” and Lucifer. Especially the beginning, I was captivated by their relationship, she “The One” loves Lucifer and despite everything bad he’s done she still cares deeply for him. She herself seems blinded by what he’s done while she keeps a tight leash on her Angels, it’s a really intriguing take that I enjoyed.
Overall in the end I enjoyed the bit of a love triangle that was going on between Alex, Aramael and Seth, which is something I’m not ever fond of. But Poitevin did a wonderful job making the actual romance make sense with whom she ended up with. I was satisfied with the romance and I’m sure this is only the beginning. Be prepared for a lot of suspense and action, not only with the men but overall with the plot. As I said this is only the next chapter and now a war has began so I’m sure these characters have a lot to look forward too.
