Follow Friday {35} Horrible cover but wonderful book

Question this week from Parajunkee and Allison Can Read.

You Slay Me (Aisling Grey: Guardian, #1)

Q.
Have you ever looked at a book cover and thought "This is going to be horrible?" But, instead was pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and explain.

A: I love covers that are illustrated, since I'm a designer I always look for something eye catching and special. "You Slay Me" by Katie MacAlister is one of my favorite series, the characters, humor, and romance are brilliant. But I feel the cover falls short in expressing how wonderful this series is.
I did however notice as the series progressed and made a spin off the covers were getting better and I loved the illustrations. I'm hoping that maybe one day they will re-do the covers and more people can catch on to this awesome series who might of been turn off from the cover.

What about you? What covers were bad to you but loved the book

  2. That one's pretty terrible! I've not heard of this one but I've got a couple of her books on my TBR list. Some of the newer ones have really beautiful covers! New follower here :)

  5. I agree. I love Katie MacAlister's series, but that cover in particular is pretty horrible. A lot of her new ones now are much more attractive.

  9. Yeah, I totally get what you said about the cover of "You slay me". It's so far from creativity, it makes me think that the designers had no better ideas and just stuck with whatever :(

  11. It's funny, I was already a huge fan of Katie MacAlister when she started writing the Aisling Grey series, so I've never even thought about what impression the cover might give to people who aren't familiar with her. Interesting.
