Thoughts on Thursdays ( Top 5 Favorite Ongoing Series)

Thoughts on Thursday is just my thoughts on some reading, news, author updates, and future books that I want to blab away about.

Today's Thoughts:

On-going addicting series... Even though I do wish I could just know the end after one book and that my characters are all peachy keen, I'm a huge fan on long series. As long as the stories are fresh and the characters just keep kicking and the insane twist here and there, I'm all for a long going series.

My Top 5 Favorite series of 2011:

Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, #1)

5) The Allie Beckstrom Series by Devon Monk: 7 in the series so far

I'm super addicted to this series, the character Allie Beckstrom is hard as nails and has some pretty out of control abilities. Plus she has some major baggage with her family, memory loss and the occasional getting her butt beat. But I love that every book has gotten better and better, the characters have a lot of background to go through. If you like romance, action, awesome magic, a kick butt heroine and humorous secondary character, then you'll love this series.

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1)

4) Anita Blake Series by Laurell K Hamilton : 20 in the series so far

Yes, I have read all 20 Anita books so far and can't wait for more. This is a series that definitely has its up and downs but the characters are so addicting I always need to know whats going to happen next. Anita Blake is a vampire executions, Marshall and lover to many supernatural characters but what I love the most are her cases she gets involved in, yes those vary depending on the book but when she goes on a case its always insane! This is top notch on the romance, but there are characters, many of the men that anyone would love.

Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1)

3) The Elemental Assassins Series by Jennifer Estep: 5 in the series so far

Now this is one series where the lead is downright deadly in every way, but also someone who you want to have cover your back. Gin Blanco is an assassin and one who has the ability to control elements and more than one. She also has one goal, to destroy the woman who took her family from her. The series has a whole lot of killing and it will have you at the edge of your seat with every turn of the page. Great characters that keep you laughing, hating and wishing they were your friend as you read.

Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1)

2) Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs: 6 in the series so far

This is my #1 werewolf series and pretty much ties for first place, I'm forever a fan of Patricia Briggs is writing and I love her concept behind having a coyote shape shifter as the lead character. Mercy is not a girly girl and she knows how to get herself in some sticky situations, most of the time helping out a friend. Many of the secondary and leading men are fantastic, they aren't the suave type but real down to earth guys who have Mercy's back. If you like a story with lots of supernatural creatures, a bit of romance, humor and all around awesome plots then this is the series for you!

Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1)

1) Katherine Kitty Katt Series by Gini Koch : 4 in the series so far

Talk about obsession...This series is awesome and really out of my normal werewolf, vampire and magic series, this is out of this world awesome! I'm a big fantasy fan and when I first picked up this series at comic con when it first came out I was dying to get the second one. Don't let the name Kitty fool you, the lead female in this series is anything but cute and cuddly, she is tough and smart mouthed. There is a ton of humor, brilliantly written characters and a bundle of great plots that gets Kitty in a lot of trouble. I highly recommend this series!

  1. I think the Anita Blake books should be put down honestly. The character has run its course and the storylines have gotten to be "tired" and stale.
