BLURB:
The ‘Antara’ had disappeared... or at least that’s how it seemed, until one night a terrible nightmare will overshadow Asteria’s dreams forever. Some lust for revenge, others hide vital secrets, demonic souls want to corrupt the Aster Island and the merfolk. Where the present unites with the past, where dreams pause to exist, the fight for survival begins. Is love strong enough to face the enemies? The infinite blue of the sea, a sweet song and an angelic soul will be their only hopes to keep their beloved ones alive. After the illustrated novel ‘Antara’, the second and final part of the story follows. A sequel which is going to move you and travel you to heavenly worlds.

REVIEW:
Once again Marilena Mexi has captivated me with her beautiful art while creating a magical world in writing. Ninemia, is the finale book in her “Antara” Series, which follows a mermaid named Asteria in her beautiful underwater world.

Ninemia, is a short story with only 64 pages, but Mexi’s beautiful art really pulls you into the story with vibrant colors and mood setting images, that help set the darker tone of the story. This time around the lead protagonist Asteria is being haunted with a horrible vision and she has to make many tough choices to protect her family and people.

I don’t want to give away too much; Ninemia is definitely a story of love, family, sacrifice and a bundle of emotion. I was shocked at many points and the ending left me happy and sad at the same time.

Overall, Mexi’s writing is very youthful and easy to understand and her art helps pull the story along with ease. Ninemia is very original and just liked the first was enjoyable. I recommend this to those who love beautiful fantasy art and anything with mermaids, it’s a quick read and visually breathtaking.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is mature young adult/adult book with beautiful artwork and fantasy elements. Definitely a book for fans of Aimee Friedman;s Sea change will enjoy this mermaid tale.
