Follow Friday! and Blog Hop {5}

Parajunkees Question of the week :

Q. Do you Judge a book by it's cover?

Yes... As a Graphic Designer I am always one who looks for something beautiful, unique, creative and artistic. But After working for Borders Books for 5 years I found so many authors whose books I loved and their covers were... well not very eye catching. So I try and give the benefit of the doubt if the synopsis sounds interesting.

LHK's Book for her Anita Blake Series the first cover that came out was not appealing at all and I most likely wouldn't of given it a second thought. But then the re-design was absolutely beautiful and was very well done, I'm sure it also boosted peoples interest too. But I read this series long before the re-design and I loved it so much, so again it all depends on if you give the book a chance.

This weeks questions for Crazy-For-Books

    1. Yes, I surely do judge a book by the cover. Not always but more often then not. I'm known for not reading synopsis so if your cover doesn't show me what I want to know or if someone doesn't recommend it... chances are I'm reading someone else's book.

    6. Hopping through. I totally agree with you, some great books are hidden inside ugly covers.. so it pays not to judge. BUT I'm guilty.

    9. Hi! New follower here. Would love for you to follow me. Nice to meet you.

      For me, it is the cover and the title that tempt me to read the blurb. If the blurb reads great, I'll grab the book. I remember the first time I saw Harry Potter's book covers, I was like, O_o...not sure if I liked them. Love the inside but the covers weren't really to my taste.

    10. I will be more quick to pick up a good cover over one I don't like. But I never buy a book solely on the cover. I'm already a follower. My FF is at Coffee Table Reviews

    11. I think we can all agree that even the most beautiful book cover can't sell a book if the writing's not there. Book cover art may, at best, help steer me in the book's direction (especially if I'm in a book store) but it's not going to hypnotize me into buying it right then and there.

    12. While I love a pretty cover I try to give the other books a chance too. I will also read the back cover of a not so appealing cover and give it a chance if it sounds interesting. Happy Follow Friday!
