Fang Me
by Parker Blue

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

GENRE: Young Adult, Urban Fantasy
BOOK THEME:Vampires, Demons
SERIES: Demon Underground #3
RECEIVED: Copy from Bell Bridge Books
AUTHOR: Website

SYNOPSIS:
The vampires want it. The demons want it too. And someone is willing to kill Val for it.

Val and Fanghave to find the powerful Encyclopedia Magicka before either of San Antonio’s warring underworld factions locate it, or the consequences will be deadly for the entire city. As usual,Val’s vampire enemies (they still call her The Slayer), want her dead, and even some of her fellow demons may be less than trustworthy, since they'd like to grab the legendary book of spells before she does. Val has a personal claim to the Encyclopedia--her demon father left it to her when he died--but someone stole it recently. And that can’t be good.

Battling vamps and dodging demons, Val struggles to unravel the mystery and find the thief. At the same time, she's fighting her attraction to sweet, sexy Shade, her favorite s

hadow demon. Rumor has it that Val will lose her part-demon, vampire-fighting powers if she gives herself to him.

With a crowd of vamps and demons out to trick her or kill her, it’s not a good time for her to risk her job as the city's best vampire hunter by falling in love. The stakes are high and aimed right at her heart. But Lola, Val's hungry little lust demon, doesn't like being denied. Will Lola finally get her way?

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Val isn’t your normal 18 year old girl, she’s half demon and a lust one at that. She is also known as the Slayer in the vampire world, she has fought and taken down many evil vampires. This time around she is looking for a missing book, trying to figure out her new relationship with her shadow demon boyfriend Shade, dealing with an annoying unknown Demon who she doesn’t trust, and keeping her lust demon side satisfied. All in a days work for an 18-year-old girl whose best friend is a hellhound.

REVIEW:

Val has a lot to deal with this time around; after an accident causes some good vampires to be threatened she agrees to work with their leader Alejandro. He wants Val to help support the movement for vampire to reveal themselves to the humans, also wanting the demons to come out with them as well. But the alliance with the good vampires and demons has another issue to deal with, a magical book has gone missing and is hiding somewhere in the city. The must find it before it gets into the wrong hands, so Val is asked to get the job done.

A lot of new and interesting characters are introduced, plus we get to see Dan Sullivan again even though Val and him are not partners anymore. I was a bit surprised on where their relationship ended but I really like Shade and how much he cares for her. He became an important character this time around, as a Shadow Demon, Shade can heal people and is needed a lot to save people and even heal Val a couple times. But there is a bad thing that happens when Shade heals, so it adds a whole another side of tension and drama for Val.

I really felt for Val in this book a lot more because she was frustrated through out most of the book and so was I. But in a good way, a new character is introduced and you don’t like him and neither does Val. It really shows how good a writer Parker Blue is when you feel the same emotions along side her main character. I was excited to discover what happened to this missing book and how this new character was connected to it.
There is a lot of loving, action and I mean really great fight scene and use of demon power, emotion drama, and humorous scenes with the two Hellhounds. You got to love having a best friend who is a hellhound and can hear your thought as well as other around you; Fang really give the tone of the book another boost of fun.

I can’t wait for the fourth book! The ending has me begging for the next to come out asap!

RECOMMENDATION:

This is a young adult novel, suiting for any age. It has some violence, but none that would be too scary for any reader. I would recommend to fans that like Rachel Caine, Richelle Mead, or PC Cast…
