BLURB:
When the last shadow warrior falls, so will all humanity.
With each demon he vanquishes in service to the Aztec sun god, Tom├ís fulfills his duty to defend humankind—and surrenders another piece of his humanity to his wolf spirit. All hope seems lost until a mission leads him to the door of the one thing he thought he’d never find…his spirit mate. The only woman who can save him from oblivion.
When Carolina hears the wolf’s howl, it pierces the very core of her lonely heart. Yet she dare not answer. As the last guardian of her land and the secret it contains, she is haunted by the mistake that cost the lives of her family. Never will she repeat that mistake, especially with a warrior who is more beast than man.
Chasing away the demon is easier than breaching the barriers around the heart of the young woman who possesses a strange power over water—and his very soul. But if they are to survive the night, he must convince her they are destined to stand together.
Or not at all.

REVIEW:
Out of the Shadows by Gabriella Hewitt brings the readers into the story of The Sun God in the Aztec mythology and his warriors, mixed with romance and magic.

This is a story of two people whose souls are connected but their lives are destined to protect their gods.  Carolina is a young woman whose life was destroyed by a man she thought she loved. Forever regretting meeting him, she tried to only concentrate on protecting her home and her goddess. Then a warrior of the sun god comes into her life and there is no denying their chemistry.  Tomas’ life has been dedicated to stopping the evil of demons for his god, but he can’t resist the strong and spirited Carolina.

Hewitt unraveled a story filled with excitement, passion and unique characters. This is a novella and is very fast paced and gets right to the point. I’m interested to see how Hewitt continues with this story because there is much potential for a longer novel and more characters. Overall a great start to the Shadow Warrior series and I’m looking forward to more of Hewitt’s writings.

RECOMENDATION:
This is an adult novel with minor violence and sexual content. I recommend Out of the Shadows to fans of Moira Rogers and Shelley Laurenston will enjoy this novella.

  1. Interesting! You don't see too many Aztec Gods used in novels like this. Great review!
