Even when she won’t fight for us, I’ll go to war for her…

Inside the Octagon, I have no fear. I’m at home, in my element, inflicting pain onto men trained to hurt me just as badly. Making them submit, knocking them out, maiming them, because it’s them or me. And I choose them.

Outside the Octagon, my only weakness is a five-foot-two, classy as fuck woman that I’ve loved for most of my life. She’s the one that brings me to my knees, fills my arms, my heart, and one day soon, my bed. She makes me reckless. Volatile. I drink too much and try too hard to fuck my way out of feeling—all because of her.

Frankie De Rosa is my girl, my best friend. I haven’t earned her yet, but I won’t stand by and let anyone take her from me. She will be the greatest fight of my life, but she’s worth the battle.

Love hurts, but anything worth having does, right?

I’m Deacon “The Hitman” Love — Welcome to the Cage.

REVIEW:

Okay so this book made me into a crazed nutter while reading this, the angst practically killed me because I wanted to shake the h/h’s so much. But alas author Mandi Beck really knows how to make it hurt! I enjoyed the MMA bad boy who loves his BFF to the core but the big lug just didn’t know how to open up to her until it was too late. Anywho I cant wait to read the next book and see what insaneness is going to happen next.

Love Hurts follows “The Hitman” aka Deacon Love who is a tough as nails bad boy MMA fighter. Out the outside he is a deadly weapon but on the inside he melts into a big softy when it comes to his best girl Frankie. But when Frankies prick of a fiancé leaves her beaten and hes nowhere to be found, Deacon is determined not to leave her side no matter if his feelings are one sided. Their bond is so strong but their emotions just keep getting in their way of what they both want. Frankie has to decide if she wants to let Deacon in, while Deacon has to make up for his past mistakes. They also have to be prepared for the dangers of Frankies ex who is still MIA and may come back at any moment.

Deacon is like a mean fighting machine, seriously when he’s mad he is like a bull charging at a red flag. As a fighter, his brothers and father are always by his side pushing his limits but not to the point that Frankie makes him lose control. I felt so much for this big guy, he is truly devoted to his family and Frankie is apart of his family. He tells her how he feels at a tough time and it causes a bit of tension between the two. I rooted for Deacon to win Frankie, but she was killer to the heart. I know he made mistakes but it was before a lot of things happened and it made me wish that he would move on from her. But he is devoted, a good friend, protector, lover and someone I wished Frankie fought a little more for him.

Frankie is a princess; someone who grew up surrounded by men and protectors all her life. She is loved by her family and is blind to the fact that her BFF Deacon is more than her bestie. Frankie makes a ton of mistakes through this book, I had a tough time caring for her and seriously hated how much she shoved other guys in Deacons face and seeming to not understand why he would get upset. In the end I can see how much she loves Deacon, its like she has a devil and angel on her shoulder tugging her in two directions, I just hope she makes the right decision.

Overall this was a great first book, I cant even describe the angst and hot romance, but it really kept my attention. The characters all around are great, secondary characters such as Marv, Sonny, Indie are fantastic supporters who add touches of humor. The ending is a cliffhanger and has me on the edge of my seat wanting the next book.

Mandi BeckAbout the Author

Mandi Beck has been an avid reader all of her life. A deep love for books always had her jotting down little stories on napkins, notebooks, and her hand. As an adult she was further submerged into the book world through book clubs and the epicness of social media. It was then that she graduated to writing her stories on her phone and then finally on a proper computer.

A nursing student, mother to two rambunctious and somewhat rotten boys, and stepmom to two great girls away at college, she shares her time with her husband in Chicago where she was born and raised. Mandi is a diehard hockey fan and blames the Blackhawks when her deadlines are not met.

Love Hurts is her debut novel and she is currently working on the next in the series along with whatever other voices are clamoring for attention in her mind.
