BLURB:
The day my life took an inevitable detour things got a little crazy.
My name is Essalin Brant, but everyone calls me Essa. I attend a small college in a tiny town, and in my twenty-two years of life I’ve never even traveled outside the state of Pennsylvania. You could say my life is pretty boring. I live by the rules. I’m a good girl and nothing exciting ever happens.

But that’s all about to change.

Enter Farren Shaw. Not only is he older and intimidating, but he’s more sure of himself than any 29-year-old man has a right to be. Did I mention that he’s drop-dead gorgeous? Well, he is. He also happens to be my best friend Haven’s brother. And I would be content with just fantasizing about Farren from afar, but when Haven suddenly goes missing, her gorgeous brother is the only one who believes me when I say she was abducted, even though all signs seem to suggest Haven left town willingly.

I know better, though. As does Farren. So when he asks me to accompany him to search for his sister, I accept.

That’s when the real adventure begins.

Our quest to find Haven takes us across the country. And throughout the time we spend together, I find myself falling for Farren . . . falling hard. He's everything I’ve ever wanted. But is he really someone I should fear?

Because aside from making me feel things I’ve never felt before, Farren is hiding something. Something big. What could this stunning man be keeping from me? And why? Is Haven’s disappearance somehow connected to his mysterious job?

All I know is that things are about to get real.

Welcome to the Inevitable Detour that has become my life.

REVIEW:

I’m all for mystery and suspense when it comes to romance novels, I love the thrill and excitement of who kidnapped the girl, who is involved and why, etc. But even more so when the author sticks two totally opposite people together on a road trip to find a missing person. This is a totally awesome premise with a lot of potential to grow.

Inevitable Detour follows Essa, who is stuck for the summer once again trying to prove to her parents she smart enough and good enough to take some time off for the summer. As a straight A student you would think she’d get a break…but she ends up getting put in a terrible situation. She and her best friend Haven went out on a girl’s night that ended up with Haven missing. Luckily Havens older brother and Essa’s crush Farren find out she was taken and is on a mission to find her. Thus Essa and Farren track down clues to her whereabouts and everything seems to be connected to Farrens mysterious job somehow.

Essa is a young woman who seems to have been trapped by her parents for way too long. Her character is a bit hard to connect to because of her child like behavior and I also found it strange to crush on someone whom you never met… I guess for me it was like a movie star crush, someone you think it hot but are never going to meet. Nonetheless I adored her friendship with Haven, the two girls are like sisters and would do anything to help and support each other. There interaction is what kept me hooked because BFFs are important and always make for some humors and much needed sisterly support moments.

Farren was a big mystery to me, I couldn’t figure out his job and how everything was connected to his sister. But I loved not knowing and always guessing, plus he has a bad boy persona, which is always irresistible to me, was so hot and made him a fun character to connect too. His connection and attraction to Essa progresses through out the book, I think in his life style he needed someone sweet and innocent like her to balance his life out a little. I did like him much more than Essa as his maturity and dangerous job turned on his alpha male and protective mode.

Overall this series has a lot of potential, the plot kept me on my toes as I didn’t know what was going to happen to Haven and how seriously dangerous Farren’s job really is. My biggest issue was the fact that Haven is missing and Essa and Farren didn’t seem as determined and desperate to find her as I would have. I would be banging down doors and driving all night to find my sister and or friend. I know they needed their moments alone as their attraction grew, but I timing for me didn’t feel right for what was going on. In the end I’m looking forward to more Haven and Rick as these two added some fun moments and lots of colorful character aspects that made me curious about them. The ending is also a cliffhanger and I know some big bads are going to keep Farren on his toes. Looking forward to continuing!
