Severe Storm Warning Tip #1:
Be alert to changing weather conditions. Look for approaching storms.

Severe Storm Warning Tip #2:
If you see approaching storms or any of the danger signs, be prepared to take shelter immediately.

Severe Storm Warning Tip #3:
They may strike quickly, with little or no warning.

Situated just outside of Oklahoma City, Calumet County is divided into two drastically different communities: Hope’s Grove and Summit Bluffs. One is the small backward town where dirt roads lead the way to field parties and railroad tracks. And the other, a sprawling suburb where paved drives lead to the landscaped lawns of the wealthy and over privileged.

For five teenagers smack in the middle of Tornado Alley, summer is heating up fast. The winds of change are blurring the invisible line that divides the rich and the rural.

One has a secret.
One has a crush.
One has been lying.
One will get caught.
And one might not make it out alive.

They’re from two different worlds…but one summer is about to change everything.

REVIEW:

This was a story that I knew I was going to either enjoy or be overwhelmed with the many characters that were portrayed. Storm Warning follows 5 different teens in one summer who each are connected, but are discovering love and change for the first time. The plot was extremely creative and I give a lot of kudos to both authors Lee and Quinn for taking on the challenge of five different POVs.

Storm Warning follows five teens that are taking on summer in a way they didn’t expect. One is not spending her summer vacationing on the beach like she had hoped, another has a crush on her brothers best friend, one has to spend his summer with his grandparents in the middle of nowhere, another meets a girl challenges him with her personality, and lastly one may lose his crush to another guy. But together they weren’t expecting a storm to ruin a summer that was already changing their lives.

Kyle and EJ are brother and sister, always looking out for each other and helping out with the family business of landscaping, while also living on a farm. Kyle’s best friend Cooper is also EJs long time crush and his family is having money troubles so he works hard to help support them. Then there is the other side Hayden and Cami who have been dating for a long time but for this summer decided to take a break. Both are very wealthy and privileged but meet Kyle and EJ while they’re apart. I liked the idea of how these two rich teens fell for two teens that grew up different then them. I felt all five really learned from each other, when it came to love, support, hard work and family.

Overall this was a great start to a new series, even though I wished only two main characters were focused on so that I could concentrate on one couple at a time, I still enjoyed it. I do also have to add there is a love triangle, which I’m not a fan of, but I will say I’m team Cooper and am rooting for him in the next book. Each character has a great personality that will have you laughing, crying, hating and hoping all the way through.

My only warning is that there is a cliffhanger. Even though I have a feeling I know what happened, I’m so wishing the next book was out because I need to know what in the world happened. This is a must read, so put this on the top of your pile for your next read.

RECOMMENDATION:

This is a young adult novel that will hook you right from the start. Fans of Pushing the limits by Katie McGarry and Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols will want to get their hands on Storm Warning by E. Lee and C. Quinn.

About C. Quinn and E. Lee:
Whether you believe in destiny, divine intervention, or just plain ol' dumb luck, several things happened in 2013 that caused E. Lee and C. Quinn's paths to cross. It may have been that the stars aligned perfectly, or the fact anytime Luke Bryan was mentioned on a social media site both of them were tagged, or maybe it was just that their small town roots and country girl attitudes were magnetically drawn together—calling out to one another, “Y'all should write a book!” Despite geography keeping them apart—Lee in Illinois and Quinn in Alabama—they did. Thanks to three-hour phone calls, ridiculous amounts of online chats, and umpteen Google Docs—Storm Warning is the first book in their edgy new Young Adult series,  Broken Heartland.

  1. Great review. Not surprised the story is good because of the two authors who wrote it :)
