BLURB:
Two years ago, 21-year-old Kate Edwards became deathly ill and slipped into a coma. While unconscious, she crept into the mind of a missing boy and awoke with the knowledge of his location. Friends and family were skeptical and wary of her new ability to see into the minds of others. Their fears prompted Kate to keep her psychic powers a secret. Feeling alienated, she dropped out of college and spent most of her days holed up at her mother's home.

Now another child has been abducted. Police detective Jared Corbett seeks out Kate for her help in solving the case. Reluctantly, Kate agrees and they must work together to bring 8-year-old Cori Preston home to her family. Although attracted to one another, Jared has a girlfriend with ties to the abduction case and Kate is sarcastic and guarded since her coma. With visions she can't control and an uncontrollable attraction to the detective, she wonders if she can leave the past behind and finally stop hiding from the world. Otherwise, Cori may be lost forever.

REVIEW:
First Visions follows Kate, a girl who is trying to hide from her true self and just be a normal twenty one year old. But her past has come back and a detective begging for her help to find a missing girl doesn’t calculate into a normal life. Kate can’t say no and goes on to help Jared (detective) using the psychic ability she’s hidden for so long. As she gets closer to the truth and uses more of her ability, it starts effecting her heart, mind and eventually could put her in danger.

Kate has an ability that she’s had been hiding since she first helped find a missing boy after waking up from her coma. Her mother wanted her to hide the truth and her father wanted nothing to do with any of it. Year later she doesn’t have a choice after seeing a vision of the missing girl. She teams up with Jared, to help find the girl who is his girlfriend’s sister. Kate is a sarcastic, stubborn and hard to connect to person, but she really does put her all in helping solve this case. My only issue with her character was that she got very childish as her feeling for Jared started building up. I didn’t like the fact she was going after someone who was in a relationship either.

Jared is a sweet guy who is determined to do all her can to find his girlfriend Nikki’s sister. Which brings him to Kate doorstep in hoping she can use her ability to find her. There are many awkward but cute scene with him and Kate, I had a feeling about their chemistry but I didn’t approve of the relationship going any farther than friendship. But I feel the author redeemed these two in the end and Kate becomes a stronger character and understanding what her ability can do for herself and other people.

Overall the mystery was what made this story, it was suspenseful seeing Kate’s visions of what was happening to this missing girl. As the reader I really wanted her to see something that could lead her and Jared in the right direction. I can’t imagine how strong you would have to be to handle the visions that Kate gets, she doesn’t have a choice and it seemed like such a tough gift to have. This is a fast paced story with a mystery that will chill you to the bone, a splash of romance and characters that have very colorful personalities, all in all a great start to a paranormal thriller.
