BLURB:
For William, life was as wicked and malicious as the beast he was trying destroy. Decades spent living a life of extravagance, domination and ravenous hunger haunted him. But when you live forever, the past never stays buried. And that which wishes to control you, will never let you go. William thought he found his escape, his one and only love, but the thing he fears the most could be the only thing that saves them. Or, it could doom them all.

REVIEW:
After reading Megan Duncan’s Released, I was excited to read a paranormal romance after loving the romantic spark she created in her debut series. This is a short story with a male protagonist, which I enjoy reading after following so many female leads.

Falling From Eternity follows William, a sweet and passive vampire who is an outcast to his kind. He would rather not drink from humans and live among them having a “normal” life. After the death of his only human friend, he once again feels that loneliness of his long life. But when a young guest brings life to his work place and his heart, he soon feels that spark again for living. As always being a vampire makes things difficult and Williams past doesn’t like the idea of him being with humans instead of his own kinds. William will do whatever it takes to protect his heart and love.

William is not your normal vampire, living off blood bags and his closest friend is a black cat named Tom. He lives out his days working around death. I thought it was interesting having a vampire work at an elderly home and how he wanted to see what it was like to live out a full life until the end. I kind of felt bad for him, he’s trying to find a reason for his life, and he feels like something missing.

Autumn is a young artist and someone who finally fills in the hole that’s missing in Williams’s life. She has a spark to her and was glad to see it brought a new side out of Will. He was almost a little depressing, so it was good to see a change in his character. Autumn story is quite sad as well and in the end Will has to deal with the consequences of her decision.

Overall this was a cute story, I felt that the romance progressed a little quickly and was almost too cute for a vampire story. I’m also very interested to get more insight into the vampire world that William so badly wants to be away from. Duncan’s writing really connects the readers with her characters and the emotional moments hit all the spots. The ending definitely made me excited for the next installment and to see what challenges lie ahead for Will.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a young adult novel that hits the emotional and sweet side of vampire love. Fans of Amber Argyle’s Witch Song series and Michelle Madow’s Transcended in Time saga will enjoy Falling from Eternity by Megan Duncan.

  2. I love the look of this book! I have to say - when I saw that you wrote in your review about swift romance, I was a tad bit deterred, but I love a good old-fashioned vampire story, so I can get past romance done speedily and enjoy the paranormal-ness of the story. Great review! <3
