BLURB:
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

REVIEW:
After reading Jennifer Armentrout’s Covenant series and loving it as much as I did, I was ecstatic to start her new series Lux. Not only am I a big fan of science fiction but I love when character really hook the readers and make them never want to stop reading. Obsidian did just that, I loved every bit of this series and never wanted it to end.

Obsidian follows seventeen-year-old Katy to her new town in West Virginia. Leaving behind the beach life of Florida and trying to start fresh with her mom after the loss of her father. But once Katy meets her neighbors everything starts to get a little weird and then a lot weird. Dee is a sweet bubbly and friendly girl and immediately becomes friends with Katy but Dee’s brother Daemon is everything but friendly and very annoyingly frustrating. They also have a secret and Katy is about to step right in the middle of it.

Katy is every bit of normal, sweet, smart and never gets in trouble type girl… That was until she meets Daemon who annoys her to know end with his hot and cold attitude. I really connected with her character, she could be anyone’s best friend and she’s someone who will fight and help anyone. Her connection with Daemon was smoking hot and I love the frustrating chemistry between the two. But the friendship she made with his sister Dee was really great to follow and they always had each other’s backs.

Dee is so sweet and all she wants is to have one friend that isn’t like all the other ones. She argues and convinces her brother that Katy is someone who won’t compromise who they are. Her relationship with Daemon really is extremely strong; they only have each other and would fight to the death to protect one another.

Daemon, I can now understand why so many reviewers love this guy. If I knew him personally I would probably pull my hair out because he’s so frustrating and arrogant. He is someone who feels he needs to be the protector, but with Katy coming into his life everything changes. He feels this connection with her and usually does a pretty good job ticking her off, but you can see he just wants to be near her. I loved that even though Katy and Daemon have the instant chemistry they don’t fall head of heels instantly for each other, there is anger, tension and a lot keeping them apart. It spiced up the romance a lot and I cant wait to see what more happens with these two.

The best part of the story, which I don’t want to get into to much detail about, is the two different alien species that Armentrout created. Its pretty much Light vs. Dark, aka good vs. evil, I loved the bit of background we get and hope more details are to come in the next book.

Overall Obsidian has taken a top spot on my favorite books list, I loved the writing, the alien species that was created, the fantastic characters and of course the romance. In a way this brought back a memory of watching Roswell when I was younger and how much I loved the alien romance story. I finished this all in one sitting and loved the fast passed plot that made me crave for more. I highly recommend this series and anything written by Jennifer Armentrout is a must read.

RECOMMENDATION:

  2. This book... has completely changed what I think about aliens and hot guys. Like seriously. Does Jen have a Daemon hiding under her bed? Cuz I want one for my own. Obsidian is amazing, but I think Onyx is even better. I don't know or care how she does it. Yay for Opal! Thanks for the review and giveaway!!!

  3. I loved Obsidian. It is different since it's an alien. I needed something a little different. I like his hot and cold with "Kitten". It keeps things going until he can figure it all out. I am so looking forward to reading Onyx!
