The Guardian's Wildchild
Can you tell us a little bit in your own words about The Guardian's Wildchild?

While reading The Guardian's Wildchild you’ll escape to a world you’ve never been before.  You'll experience enticing plots and become a willing prisoner in your chair.  And the characters?  You've never met more sinister villains or gifted souls – all in a conspiracy to change the world from the stage of the Pacific Ocean.

The setting is primarily on a cruise ship converted by the American Navy to function as an armed supply ship carrying weapons and mysterious boxes for Admiral Garland.  You’ll enjoy intrigue and fall in love with an alpha male, Captain Waterhouse.  Ladies, get ready for the challenge to melt the heart of a rulebook toting naval captain bent on revenge, eyes dark as sin, and a body to go with his rigid demeanor.

It’s the year 2040 and humanity has recovered from the Great Quake’s devastation worldwide twenty years earlier.  An energy crisis now casts a shadow on the planet’s future.

Enter Madame, a woman without conscience.  She watched a South American tribe use crystals to turn water to sweet red wine.  Madame believes she’s on the verge to becoming as powerful as a god.  In an alliance with Admiral Garland, she’s poised to take control of the planet.

Magic is woven throughout the pages, drawing you deeper into the world of the mystic Guardians. Powerful and benevolent, they remain hidden from civilization.  In the hopes of protecting the sun crystals, Sidney Davenport leaves their safe haven to stop Madame.

Through their powers of clairvoyance and space/time travel, they watch as their Sidney struggles against being consumed by fear - and her attraction to the man who holds her life, and the future of humanity, in the palm of his hand, Captain Waterhouse.

If Captain Waterhouse’s troubles seemed overwhelming, his disciplined life is about to unravel upon receiving a prisoner for execution – Sidney Davenport.  Little does he know he’s met his match!  He soon discovers her people call her “Wildchild” for good reason.  She detests rules.

Upon learning that Madame has a trump card, a fallen Guardian by the name of Frank Butchart, the conflict appears insurmountable.  Captain Waterhouse is determined to get his life back at any cost, including his integrity.  Sidney must make a choice that could destroy what she values most.  To remain divided, Sam and Sidney will surely be destroyed. To join forces is unacceptable.  Or is it?

You'll cry and you'll laugh.  And, you will not be prepared for the ending.

What type of research did you have to do for this type of storyline or what inspired you?

I required information about life as a seaman and the naval command structure.  Fortunately, I had a wonderful friend who served on a destroyer.

Concerning the paranormal content, I have had personal experience with spirit guides, astral travelling, space/time travel, telepathy and events that cannot be described.  It’s not something I had welcomed into my world. However, my mother was ‘gifted’ and her talents were passed on to her children.

In my practice of meditation and shaman exercises, I have touched other dimensions or realms that might cause the faint of heart to drop.  I met my spirit guide when I was about eight.  From then on, I’ve never been alone.  One spirit guide saved my life when I was drowning. Others have offered comfort.  Suffice to say, my life has been an exciting, bizzare ride.

What was your favorite experience in writing this book?

The experience of sitting down and not knowing what visions would surface was exciting.  I had a conscious, basic plan on the story’s plot but the journey into the characters’ lives was something I had not anticipated.  I would shut off my ego, silence the mental chatter and anxiety.  I allowed some disembodied narrator to take over.  I became the observer and my hands desperately tried to keep up on the keyboard.

What attracted you to writing a novel with paranormal elements?

The paranormal has been a ‘normal’ part of my world since I was eight years old.  It was fitting to include this aspect into the stories as my experiences have been so profound. It is my belief that many, if not all, people experience the paranormal, visits from spirit guides and telepathy, but either ignore the experience or downplay the event as an illusion.  I suspect that readers will recall their paranormal events while reading my book and wonder, what if  …..

Do you have any interesting quirks when writing? Ex. Listening to certain music for inspiration, watching television, writing outside, etc.

Music is a big part of my life.  I’m always playing music while I’m writing.  It ranges from mystical sounds of Enya to the more bold tunes from Fleetwood Mac. If inspiration fails me, I’ll head out to my flower beds to dig into the soil, pull out menacing weeds, and see the universe in my roses.

Who are some of your favorite writers?

I’ve enjoyed Diana Gabaldon’s books. However, I’m rather fickle. There are thousands of authors out there.  I’d rather get a sampling of as many as possible before I make that leap through the veil.

If you could be any one of your characters who would it be and why?

You’re asking me to choose one of my children.  Not possible, even with the gender issues.  They’re all exciting, interesting, intelligent, and full of mystery – well, except for Madame.  I’ll pass on taking on her character – just too evil. I have to admit to wishing I could be Sidney.  The chance to be held by Sam’s strong arms is just too tempting.

Can you tell us what you’re working on next?

There is another exciting book in the works. The working title is Cursed Angel. I’ve got the bare bones half completed. Once the first draft is final, the rewrite begins. I’ll give the story its soul.

It’s a leap away from being on the ocean.  In fact, the story takes place in the desert.  And the conflict is between a man and a woman, their religious differences coming between them. But we all know how the human heart has its way of bridging the widest chasm.
