BLURB:
Something is wrong with the souls of Chicago's dead. Ghosts are walking the streets, and Agent of Death Madeline Black's exasperating boss wants her to figure out why. And while work is bad enough, Maddy has a plethora of personal problems too. Now that Gabriel has been assigned as her thrall, their relationship has hit an impasse. At least her sleazy ex-fiance Nathaniel is out of the picture--or so she thinks...

REVIEW:
The Madeline Black series has been such a favorite of mine; I love the concept of the lead Madeline being the daughter of the right hand of Satan, as well as Satan being her grandfather. This time around was super exciting and of course full of action. Plus we get some much-needed romance, which made me squee like a schoolgirl. But I was soooo not prepared for the ending, wow… no words but I’ll get to that later.

Maddy seriously doesn’t get a break especially after the last book, now she has to deal with Ghost walking the streets her friend Samiel is going on trail for a serious issue, and her wishful lover is now her Thrall aka slave. But of course that’s not all, because when the werewolves come knocking after their Alpha and kids go missing, Maddy takes on a bit more than she can chew.

Maddy, poor girl doesn’t ever get a break and she’s always getting herself into way more than she should be able to handle. I felt bad for her having to deal with the man she cares about the most, Gabriel. From the last book he became her Thrall when she saved him. Meaning she owns him, but she doesn’t want that, all she wants is for him to be free. So he kind of gets a bit of an attitude, but she has more issues to deal with than him. Maddy also gets a visit from her ex fiancĂ©, who really does some major damage that includes her father. But I think the best relationship in an odd twist is of her and Lucifer, who seems to be helping her more than usual.

Jude is back with the werewolves and most of the time I wanted to punch him in the face. He was so rude to Maddy who was putting not only her life in danger but her friends to help him save his pack. He really needed to get over the fact that she’s connected to Lucifer.

My comedic duo in this book was definitely Samiel and Maddy’s always hungry for doughnuts Gargoyle, Beezle. These two pretty much feed off each other with humor and they are kind of like BFF’s. They also keep the peace between lots of the commotion that go on as well as being protective of Maddy.

Probably like many of those who read Black Howl, it took me a few days to writing the review because the ending was killer. I actually re-read the ending to make sure it really happened, so gird your loins because it’s a shocker. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Christina Henry will somehow alter what happened, cause I’m still feeling the heartache. I really enjoyed Black Howl from the first turn of the page, I highly recommend this novel and can’t wait for the fourth book!
