BLURB:
When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn't until eleven years later that Wendy discovers her mother might have been right. With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world she never knew existed - a world both beautiful and frightening, and Wendy's not sure she wants to be a part of it.

REVIEW:
I’ve heard such fantastic reviews about Amanda Hockings writings and was extremely excited to win a copy of Switched. First in the Trylle trilogy, Hocking takes her readers deep into the world of Trylle’s aka Trolls, but these aren’t the trolls you would normally read about. Trylle’s are beautiful and power beings that look like humans and live in a small community. It definitely a fast paced story that follows one girl who discovers her life has all been a lie.

Switched follows a very stubborn young teen Wendy and whose life has been tough since her mother tried to kill her. Thankfully her very protective brother and aunt take her in and try to give her a normal life. But Wendy seems to have a problem with connecting to anyone anywhere; she feels that maybe her mother was right. She is a monster. Then when she meets a mysterious boy who introduces her to the life she is suppose to have.

Wendy Everly is an interesting protagonist. Not really fitting in anywhere and having that angry vibe around her constantly, I wondered how I was going to like her character. In the end I really pulled for this girl, nothing was easy and everything seemed to just go wrong. She finds out she’s a changeling otherwise known as a Trylle. When a boy named Finn explains how she was switched at birth and that she’s one of the most powerful of the Trylle after he witnesses her “Persuade” someone to help her.

I really felt really bad for Wendy; pretty much in her old and new life her mothers were cruel and showed no love or affection to their daughter. Switched was a very original story where you feel bad for both the changelings and the humans, because neither had a choice in how their lived where switched. The villains are defiantly powerful and very dangerous when it comes to tracking down Wendy. They won’t stop until they have her and will harm anyone in their path.

Overall I enjoyed Switched, there is of course romance mixed into the chaos, but also a hint that there might be a love triangle. I’m not a fan of love triangles so I’m hoping it doesn’t happen, but the main love interest is sadly a forbidden love. I’m interested to see what happens with Wendy and if her human family and real family will ever meet. I recommend this series for its originality with the Changeling concept and great character development.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a young adult novel that’s full of action and romance. Fans of the Mortal Instrument series my Cassandra Clare and the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz will love Switched by Amanda Hocking.
