QUICK THOUGHTS:

The Restorer was such a hauntingly beautiful story I read it all in one night.  Author Amanda Stevens write a story of mystery with a touch of romance, that keeps you on your toes.  The first book in the Graveyard Queen is a tale about a young woman who sees ghost and his a graveyard restorer, she gets involved with a murder taken place in one the graveyards she’s restoring.

REVIEW:

Amelia Gray was born and raised around graveyards, her father being a care taker she has always felt safe and comfortable around them which brought her to her restoring career. At a young age she learned that she could see ghost, but her father who also could see them warned her to always ignore them.  He also warned her to stay away from those who were haunted, but that would all change…

“Never acknowledge the dead
Never stray far from hallowed ground
Never associate with those who are haunted
Never, ever tempt fate”

She is given a job in Charleston, South Carolina, in an old cemetery that has pre- Civil War and in need of a lot of work.  She is approach by a cop who works for the local police, asking for her help with a murder in the very graveyard she’s working on.  The connection between the two leads is not love at first site, but more of a haunting connection that both of them can’t figure out. What she does know is that this cop Devlin is haunted himself, with two beautifully uneasy feeling ghost that seem to never leave his side. Stevens write Amelia’s emotions so greatly detailed that you connect with her character instantly, you feel how she feels and see how she sees. It makes the story that much more thrilling and breath taking.

The character of Devlin interested me so much, no because he was the male lead and good looking. But because of his past, his ghost and how closed off from everyone he was. In the end I still don’t know much about him and it makes his character that much more fascinating.
The murder mystery aspect was thrilling and I was trying to figure out who was connected to who and what through out the book. I really had no idea who was connected to the murder and as everything started to come together, I was surprised with clues at the beginning I was given that brought everything together.

I was satisfied with the ending, I still have a lot of questions that I know will be answered in the following books to come, but it just makes me excited for the next.
